  • These Work!
Size: 16FT Garage Door
I bought these door brackets but my door was sagging so bad I didn't think they would work. My garage door is a 16' door and it was sagging so bad I thought the door was going to slide off the roller axles. I was having to push up on the door to get it to roll down. I put these on and could tell the door was more rigid. I can open and close the door with one hand again. The door had gotten so hard to close that it broke my opener. I wish I had taken some before and after pictures to show the massive improvement these supports made. Installation was pretty simple. My door is insulated so I had to make sure I was on the structural door supports. Great product, and it was such a relief to have these installed and my door working again. ... show more

  • Works perfect - exactly what I needed.
Size: 16FT Garage Door
Bought as a replacement for my cracked OEM support. Well made and was pleased with the quality. Fairly easy to install but did it alone so it was a little bit of a pain. Get a second set of hands to help if you can - the installation should be a breeze with the proper tools.

  • Worked as Intended
Size: 16FT Garage Door
I installed the 16-foot kit on a 20-year-old garage door that just started sagging . The instructions are fine, but photocopied, so it's probably about time they re-print the instructions so the images are clearer. I did watch YouTube videos to get a better idea of how to install the kit. The parts were a little bent in shipping, but some gentle persuasion got them back into shape; don't worry if they're not perfectly straight, you can tweak them as you install. The 16-foot kit is a 3-piece kit containing a smaller center section that will attach to the center of the door and two 8-foot pieces that will connect to either side of the door and will be secured to the center piece. This kit is good for securing one area or two neighboring panels sagging. If you have more than two panels sagging, then you will need to purchase another 16-foot section. I did need to adjust the garage door spring when I added one reinforcement strut. The opener was able to lift the door, but the door did not float freely until the spring was adjusted. ... show more

  • Works fine, but a lot more work than the complete 1 piece 16' strut
Size: 16FT Garage Door
The self tapping screws are excellent. I try using a cordless drill, but it was just too weaks not enough torque. Had to buy one of those cord drill with more amps (7.5 amp). I brought it from Harbor Freight for $40. Get some ear plugs, it get really noisy!! Wear safety glasses too! It is much easy job with 2 people. Doing it by myself takes some engineering. A couple vise grip clamps came handy. I installed 2 struts. One on the top and one on the second panel from the top. The extra weight from the struts will require adjustment on torsion springs (adding more turns). Not an easy DIY project. If you not handy, get the professional to do it. Much better than spending $1200 for a new garage door. ... show more

  • Great product
Size: 16FT Garage Door
This is just what my garage door needed. It started to making noises and sagging in the middle of the. I noticed a small crack on the inside of the door. I put this in and it made the door super sturdy and now it’s quiet again.

  • surprisingly effective fix
Size: 16FT Garage Door
I thought my garage door was "done for," But after just a few minutes later it's looking pretty strong again. It probably won't be a long time fix, but it's gotten me 5 months so far.

  • Good materials and 5 Star Doors did a great job to help make installation as easy as it could be.
Size: 16FT Garage Door
Product arrived intact via UPS which can be hit or miss. I was one screw short of the smaller ones had 11 out of 12 but I made it work. Instructions were clear but I would advise 5 Star Doors to print them a little darker. It's hard to see/read for people over 50. Looks like a copy of a copy of a copy. But those are minor issues and I wanted to give some feedback on how they could improve a couple things. The instructions recommend you measuring and attaching the center strut to the two side ones first. I found that centering and attaching the center strut to the garage door first allowed me to line up the side pieces in the door's predrilled holes. I did use a C-clamp to hold firm the side pieces when securing them to the center piece. So, attach the center piece with ONE screw at the top so it can pivot and then mount each side with one screw at the top of the end of the strut. You can then use the C-clamp or clamps to squeeze in and hold the left and right struts while you drill/mount the short screws. My garage door is probably 30-40 years old, so maybe the newer doors line up better, but I found that this was the easiest and straightest way to mount the struts. It fixed my issue and my door is so much quieter now. Also, I'd recommend having a helper. I did it solo but I'm experienced with metal fabrication so I knew how to plan/think ahead. I'm thinking of getting two more struts for the other panels, but they're not needed at this time. Great company and I would absolutely buy from 5 Star Doors again. ... show more
