  • High wattage output for good Price!
Size: 1500VA/900W
I am trying this lower cost brand UPS opposed to the other Brand that I normally buy just to see if this brand is any good. This model SK1500 is in the "Tower" form with two 9AH 12v F2 SLA Batteries hidden behind the front Cover which can easily be replaced by removing two screws and pulling off the front panel. The Illuminated display is basic, displaying the Load amount, the Battery Level, the input Voltage and the Output voltage. Typical Audible tones to indicate "On Battery" and "Low Battery" After allowing the batteries 24 hours to fully change while the unit was off, I powered on the unit and unplugged the UPS with out any load; the unit ran for 12 hours straight before shutting down due to low battery. The UPS low battery warning came on 15 minutes before the shutdown. When I restored power to the UPS, the unit returned to the state it was in when it shut down. At this point the UPS is back on and supplying power once again with no load. After allowing the batteries 24 hours to fully recharge, I used a 200 watt incandescent bulb as my test load. While measuring the draw of the bulb, I also measured the Voltage output on battery; The Bulb cold started out at 211 watts, but dropped down to about 189 watts after it had warmed up. The UPS stated on the display that it was putting out 120v on the front panel, but I was measuring about 118v, this voltage would slowly drop to 118 on the display and 115v on the output. Compared to a runtime of 12 hours with no load, the UPS had a runtime of only 39 minutes with the 200 watt Incandescent bulb. From the other UPS units that I have tested, this is about average. Simulated Sine wave and basic operation, low cost with a high wattage output, I highly suggest this UPS. PS: I did not install the software nor connect this UPS unit to a computer. ... show more

  • Works as expected. Good value for the price.
Size: 1500VA/900W
In case there's any nerds out there like me trying to run Network UPS Tools (NUT) with it, here's the config that worked for me. There may be some tweaks to it, but I would have loved to have found this as a starting place so thought I'd share: ``` [myups] driver = nutdrv_qx # Seems to be a pretty generic driver, lacks battery.charge so we have to feed it high/low voltage to guesstimate desc = "SKE" port = auto # Not used, can be any string value but recommended to be auto vendorid = 0001 # Retrieved from `lsusb` productid = 0000 # Retrieved from `lsusb` default.battery.voltage.high = 27.5 # The battery's voltage when fully charged default.battery.voltage.low = 19.5 # The battery's voltage when nearly depleted. This was an estimate from OpenAI, there's a more accurate approach on NUT's website if one is so inclined to be more acurate #runtimecal = 27.5,60,23.0,30,19.5,5 # Trying to figure this one out still norating # prevents UPS from shutting down when querying for rating novendor # prevents UPS from shutting down when querying for vendor ``` ... show more

  • I'm going to give it hig marks for now
Size: 1500VA/900W
The unit is solid. It came with now issue that others have reported. Honestly I was about to send it back but decided to keep it for now and see whats what. Good: Solid Plenty of room to grow. I am only at 8% load. That is with a Cisco 2460 switch that is 1/3 full. I PC I built to use a Sophos Firewall and a Spectrum mode. I tested it for 5 minutes and it took the batteries down to 77% but held there for 5 minutes. As I write this I am on battery only. The beeping is not really that annoying. As soon as I removed power the software notified me that I lost AC. The software leaves lot to be desired. Its like it was programed for Windows XP. With that said, and unlike others report. I was able to register the software and it installed with English as the first language choice. It has several options for testing or shutting it down totally. It has a running log that shows in the bottom have of the window that is a basic readout of what is happening: ----------------------------------------------------------------- # Date Time Event ----------------------------------------------------------------- 0) 2023/10/04 07:12:48 PM AC Failure 1) 2023/10/04 06:54:41 PM UPS Self Test 2) 2023/10/04 06:52:55 PM UPS Self Test 3) 2023/10/04 06:52:21 PM UPS Self Test 4) 2023/10/04 06:46:53 PM UPS Connected 5) 2023/10/04 06:46:35 PM UPS Disconnected It also has a Block diagram that show you what state the transfer of power is in. So far I cannot say I hate it. But this is first impressions on the first date of usage. I will update this in about 3 months if not earlier. If everything works out this is a great way to get into an inexpensive UPS. I have the 900 watt version. ... show more
