Not happy with this reel at all. It has a tight spot in it as you reel not only that you are constantly getting wind knots as well. I use premium monofilament, do not overfill, flip the bail by hand at the end of a cast and still get the knots. Should have purchased another Shimano Sienna 500 and been happy, the 13 Wicked is going on the shelf to collect dust. Update 12-27-21: So I disassembled this reel, completely cleaned and lightly lubricated it and reassembled. Spooled it with 4lb Berkeley Sensation. Third cast a wind knot, still has the tight spot in it and still a piece of junk. It might be ok fishing straight down thru a hole in the ice and straight up but it's not for casting. I purchased it as a light reel for trout but that's not going to happen, can't deal with that tight spot and the knots. Shame on me for missing the return date. First and last 13 product for me. Lesson learned stick with what works and known brands. I wouldn't even give this reel to a child because he would never want to learn to fish. I'm going to put it on my anvil and smash it with my 20lb sledge hammer and place what's left of it in the recycle bin. ... show more

I will probably end up getting another one of these, I like it so much, especially for the price. My go to ice reel used to be a Shimano Sienna 500, but this is every bit that reel is when it comes to retrieve/drag smoothness, solid bail and anti reverse. I reeled in over a dozen fish in one weekend on Lake of the Woods, and it worked great, whether they were big or small. ... show more

Haven't had long enough to give long term review but initially I am completely satisfied with the reel. Smooth retrieve and love the long stem handle. I have bigger hands and this makes holding the rod & reel in a pistol grip very easy. For now A+++
