  • High hopes, but had to return with refund, but had to pay shipping back.

I bought the 300 amp hour battery and it is rated at a maximum discharge rate of 200 amps. I wired a Progressive Dynamics PD9160ALV 60 amp lithium ion battery converter up an charged for five hours until the battery reached a voltage of about 13.5 volts. The inverter I used is a 2200 watt Giandel pure sine wave power inverter wired to the battery with the supplied #2 wire cables with an AiLi volt/current meter using the 350 amp shunt. The inverter was switched on and everything seemed to be working. I plugged in a 900 watt coffee maker and it worked for a couple of minutes and the ammeter was shown a current of 100 amps. Then everything went dead. None of the fuses were blown, but the battery voltage had dropped to 4.53 volts, as shown in the picture. I contacted Amazon and they said that since the battery was shipped from Chins, I needed to wait for them to contact me. It is Saturday, 2/27/2021, day two and I am waiting for a response from the company about what to do next as far as returning the battery, that by the way, weighs about 68 pounds in the box. I will update this posting after a response from Chins. Update (3/1/2021): Allen, at the company offered to send me a small 14.7 volt 10 amp charger that they said will reset the BMS to restore the battery initial condition or send the battery back and receive a replacement. He also offered as another option a full refund. At this point I am opting for the refund. The battery has the capacity I need, but I think there may be some variability in their battery management system and you may very well get a battery that will work for your situation. In the future I may want to use the full 200 amp discharge rate that the specs say this battery can deliver and think that I may have a problem in that situation. The company was fast to provide some solutions to my problem and that is a definite plus in working with this company. Update 3/11/2021: I received a refund of my purchase, but I did end up paying UPS $105.21 to ship the battery back. The company said they would reimburse my shipping, but has ignored my last two emails about actually reimbursing me for the shipping cost, which I have yet to receive. I have since bitten the bullet and purchased two Battle Born batteries, which have a stellar reputation for their product and I will feel happier about my purchase and not have to worry about any safety or performance issues. ... show more

UPDATE: It took ten days including weekends and Thanksgiving to receive my batteries with the expedited shipping option. That's pretty fast. I have not received my batteries yet but in the meantime I wrote support to get the specs I need to put into my EPEVER Triron 4210n charge controller. They were quick to reply. I thought I'd post the numbers for others that might need them. They are for one 200AH 12V LIFePO4 battery. I've had this battery in operation for only a week, but as I've put it through its paces it has more than lived up to my hopes. After my purchase, I received an invitation from Chins, the manufacturer, through Amazon for any questions I might have. I've had a few casual operational questions which I submitted through Amazon and the company has come back overnight with thorough answers. They obviously are very customer driven. I wanted 200 ah of power for my home built RV and purchased this unit instead of two 100 ah units because of the cost savings and, importantly for me, the avoidance of having to deal with connecting two units together. The product has rope handles on each side, M8 bolts for connections on the top, and a solid appearance. It was a cinch to install--even at close to 50 lbs. Its worth noting that the cost savings are even more substantial if one needs 300 ah of power and can fit Chins' 300 ah unit in your available space. The cost per ah is dramatically lower than anything else I've seen from other suppliers. They say their lower prices reflect the fact that they are the manufacturer and sell direct. Paid $30 for expedited shipping and boy did that work. I purchased the 200Ah model. It would be nice if it was a little more of the same dimensions of, say 2 group 27 batteries, but that isn't a ding on this product since it looks like most of these are the same size. I built a new mount for the battery and it is working good. This battery is $200 to $500 less than the competitors, but appears to be a quality product. I'll be installing a 2500w inverter this weekend and will update with my impression after our first trip using it. I've used it on 2 boondocking trips in my motorhome. I run an inverter off of it full time, but don't necessarily have much running off of it. Twice I woke up to find that the battery's BMS had cut it out at night. I was worried that I might have made a mistake, since the battery was over 12v when I went to bed. What I came to realize is that you just can't rely in voltage to know what the state of charge is. I installed a shunt and can confirm that the capacity is right at 200 amps. I did 2 discharge/recharge cycles to confirm it. Further, I discharged at around 100 amps and charged at about 70amps, so this thing is a worker. I highly recommend installing a shunt with this battery and I absolutely have no regrets about the purchase. ... show more
