  • High-priced but worth it
I bought one of these batteries seven and a half years ago. The original factory battery in my pickup lasted less than three years and was building huge corrosion forests on the terminals. The Optima battery had no corrosion buildup in over seven years. It continued to work well until a few weeks ago. I regard seven years of battery life as VERY good. Yes, it is expensive, but well worth the money for knowing I can depend on it. ... show more

  • GREAT BATTERY!
Says rated 720 Cold Cranking Amps - it tested at 1060 Cold Cranking Amps! My 2002 Toyota Corolla starts RIGHT UP in the cold, even WITHOUT pressing the accelerator pedal - and THIS with a MISS on CYL 3. I will probably also get one for my 2005 Dodge Neon. If you have occasional battery issues - BUY THIS FOR PEACE OF MIND! ... show more

  • Go to battery
This is and has always been my go to choice of car battery. I have full trust that when that key turns, my car is going to sing to life. They have never left me stranded. The one thing I do dislike is when they do go dead, the go DEAD. There is no recharging, there is no repairing, no fancy charger is going to bring it back That battery is kaput. It's a good thing it always get years of use out of it. Well worth the money. ... show more

  • "Upto 3x longer life" is the claim, but it is dead after just 1 year.
Bought this to replace my old battery, which I don't even remembered replacing. Since I live in Las Vegas now, and my mechanic told me that the heat and cold will shorten the battery life, I opted to buy the best one available on the market. Sadly, it first started giving me trouble after just 1 year and will not even start my car after exactly 13 months (from order date Dec 15, 2014 to January 28, 2016). Thought it was just a fluke at first when it will not start my car when I was trying to commute to work, but it was really cold that week. And since then it has struggle to start but started the engine, unless I purposely leave the car parked over 36 hours to see if it is the battery not having enough juice to start the engine. And sure enough, I only hear the clicking sound and that's it. It will start for awhile when given a jump start, but today I felt embarrassed for my car not starting after filling up at a busy gas station, since I was inconveniencing others patiently waiting in line to fill up and go about their day. Seriously expected a lot more for a battery that claims to have 3x the battery life compared to other competitors. But after 1 year and 1 month, the premium price paid for this battery seems not worth it. Especially reading all the reviews that claims the warranty is not honored at all. Anyway, 2 stars for now, but will update once I find out more from the manufacturer and Amazon. ----------UPDATE---------- This is the email reply sent my Optima Customer Care, which basically punt the responsibility of warranty claim (13 months within the 36 months warranty period to Amazon, the original retailer). Hi Tony, Warranties are handled by the original retail location with original receipt. Most retail locations register your sale with your phone number and can track that purchase. Amazon does handle the warranty on the batteries they sell; you simply need to contact them for warranty services. If you have any issues attempting to get warranty assistance please get the name of the person you spoke with and give us a call or email us. The Optima factory warranty policy requires a receipt from the original purchaser. Your purchase receipt: 1. Establishes the beginning date of service. 2. Identifies you as the original purchaser 3. Identifies that the battery is used in a consumer (not commercial) application. 4. Identifies the sale as a retail purchase. Without this there is no way to verify that the battery was purchased new, never been used. Thank you, Matt Optima Customer Service ----------END UPDATE (1/28/2016)---------- So basically, the manufacturer want s the buyer to follow up with Amazon, and come up with all the excuses (including allegations that Amazon.com actually would sell used car batteries, which is a completely laughable notion) so they will not have to honor their own warranty policy. FYI, Amazon will only assist you with this purchase if it is with the first 90 days, after that it is a struggle speaking to or live chatting with Amazon's support. Good battery if you don't end up with a lemon. Bad service from Optima Batteries, at the unacceptable level. Amazon customer service is a lot better, but you have to be firm and explain everything to them, in the hopes that an equitable resolution can be reached. Buyer beware. ... show more

  • Fit's a 2010 Dodge Journey 2.4l
Works Great. It is alittle more CCA's for my car but works just fine. I will update in a few months when I know how it handles my daily 3 mile, unmaintained dirt road drive.

  • Excellent replacement battery for my 2006 Mazda RX8(AT trans)
This battery is a great OEM replacement for my 2006 Mazda RX8. It provides plenty of power to the vehicle for starting, etc. The battery was simple to install using the following steps: -Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the nut that holds the terminal clamp on the negative terminal -disconnect the negative terminal -Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the nut that holds the terminal clamp on the positive terminal -disconnect the positive terminal -Take the old battery out of the compartment it is in and replace it with this new one -connect and tighten the clamp for the positive terminal -connect and tighten the clamp for the negative terminal One thing about this battery that was a bit of a negative was that it was shorter than the OE Mazda battery. This meant I needed to prop the battery up a little bit so the terminal clamps could be properly fastened. I simply used the cover that came on this battery and put it underneath the battery to give a 1-2inch increase in height allowing the clamps to clear the sides of the battery well. Pros: *Good cranking power *Everything power-wise runs well Cons: *A little short for the stock battery well(-1/4 a star) However this can be fixed by using the terminal cover that came with the battery and placing it underneath the battery inside of the well. Additional Considerations: Make sure you have a wire brush and some terminal cleaner to clean the clamps. Also some kind of electrical-conducting gel may be good to apply when installing the battery. Overall: 4.75/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 stars If you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible. ... show more

  • Not Fully Charged
These are nice batteries but make sure you put a charger on them before putting in your car. They may arrive not fully charged.

  • Perfect fit, and works as it should
Been using Optima batteries in my cars your years now, and just like the last ones that have lasted about 6 years in the Florida heat this one also lives up to how the other preformed. High power and cracking power to turn over the starter and your are back on the road. This battery is also fully sealed so never have to worry about battery acid leaking as the electro light is a gel and not a liquid so it will hold up better in ruff terrain or spirited driving. Highly recommend this battery over the other generic type batteries and well worth the cost. ... show more
