  • These are going to help keep things in place on our deck during storms
These things are going to be perfect for us. We have a composite deck which is quite slippery and our deck furniture slides all over when we have strong winds. These anchors will help reduce or eliminate damage to the furniture, decking (scratches), and house siding from blown furniture. They are well designed so you can make the attachment from the top surface of the deck. You simply slide the peg between deck boards, turn it 90 degrees, and you’re done. The spring holds the peg in place and keeps it from falling through the crack. My major concern when buying these was the thickness of the pegs and whether they would fit in the gap between deck boards. Measuring them with a digital caliper I found that they are consistently 5/32 inch (about 4 mm) wide on the flat faces. Since you have to turn them to lock them in place, I measured the diagonal of the center shaft and found it to be 25/128 inch thick (about 5 mm). They fit just fine on our composite back deck and our wood front porch. Note that the temperature was 49 degrees Fahrenheit. I mention that because composite materials will expand in hotter weather. It will be interesting to see if the fit changes next summer when the temperatures get into the 90’s. As noted above, all the pieces are consistent in size. The quality of the materials seems very good. They come with carabiners, one for each peg, so it’s easy to attach whatever rope or line you desire. The body of the peg and the main part of the carabiner are aluminum. The spring and closer on the carabiner are steel. There are holes at each end of the peg to attach a rope or carabiner. The holes are about 9/32 inch (approx 7.4 mm) in diameter which isn’t real large so it’s a good thing that these come with carabiners so you can attach larger ropes like those you would use to secure a boat. The springs got a little “wonky” when the pegs were placed on my deck and porch. They didn’t sit flat on the deck surface. They did their job holding the peg in place but they tended to tilt to one side and part of the spring always wanted to slip into the gap between boards. Since they still perform properly, this is only an aesthetic issue, not a functional problem. Overall, I think this is a unique product; I haven’t seen anything like them before. They are really going to serve a useful function for us. Anyone with a composite deck who is having problems with wind-blown items should consider these. I’m REALLY happy with them. They are going to be great. ... show more

  • Good value for the price
These deck pegs fit slide between your deck boards and after you turn them 90 degrees, grab onto the deck given their slightly curved/crescent moon like construction. The spring provides tension and keeps the joint from moving Since the piece that goes into the deck is rigid and cannot bend, they have provided carabiners so you can hook your guylines/anchor lines in them. So, for home use, these work just fine. The aluminum construction is unlikely to break in most wind storms that you are likely to hit in a home setting. Of course, if you are about to hit a gale wind, this anchor will be the least of your trouble as your gazebo/tent itself will give up the ghost before anchor does. I had bought a 3x more expensive deck anchor (2 pack) which was better constructed and the connectors to the bottom plate that lives under the deck was made of flexible stainless wire. That one could hold 1200lbs of force. However, I am fairly certain my deck board cannot handle that much force. That one was marketed towards contractors for use in trucks and to secure objects and it was a very high quality deck anchor. That being said, I am not a contractor and I am not lugging around tons of construction material in a truck that I don't own. So, for my puny homeowner use cases, these work just fine. At 1/3 the price, with 5x more pieces (10 pieces), and good enough construction, these are are a good value for money. ... show more

  • Brilliant idea!
I enjoy camping. Some areas, especially those that are particularly wet (e.g., the Everglades) or others with particularly fragile ecosystems have platforms built for campers' tents. Even with a free-standing tent, it's nice to be able to stake out the rainfly and in the past it's been a hassle trying to jury rig some sort of a system to do this. These deck pegs solve that problem. The design is brilliant, providing spring-held fastening points for the guylines. The construction is good with the main part of the anchors made from lightweight aluminum, so there's not too much weight to them. The only thing that could be better would be a nylon stuff sack to keep the pegs together. I would suggest that the manufacturer add one to the set, but the lack of one is not any reason to downgrade the product. These pegs are a brilliant idea, and I'm pleased to have and to recommend them. ... show more

  • Pretty Cool little gizmos. A thoughtful and useful small gift idea.
These are pretty cool little gizmos for securing tents, tarps, covers and that type of thing. You could even use them to anchor things to a picnic table when camping, if you need to create a shelter from weather. Really, you could use them on anything that has slatted boards, or a narrow or thin space you could slide them down into. Nice looking red anodized aluminum. The spring isn't super tight, but it works fine. They are somehow a little smaller than I imagined, but they work great as they are. This would make a thoughtful and useful stocking stuffer or small gift for your favorite camper or gadget lover. ... show more

  • fantastic anchors!
My wife bought a 20 ft inflatable Christmas tree and wanted it on the deck. These worked perfectly for anchoring the guy-lines to the deck. I was able to tie them to the tree and anchor it between the deck boards. The spring keeps the anchor in place and not flopping around loosely. Once all the guy-lines were attached and the tree inflated, I quickly and easily adjusted the tension of the lines by moving the anchors. Such a great idea and a time saver! ... show more
