  • Beautiful, Relatively Easy to Use
This attractive frame really does a great job of displaying sharp and vibrant pictures. The associated app (free for Android and iPhone users) is easy to use. I like that in the app, you are given an opportunity to identify the most important part of any given photo -- the reason for this is the sender may not know if the owner is using the frame in vertical mode or horizontal mode, and whether their photo will get cropped to fit. This may get a bit weedy, but the owner has two choices when displaying a vertical photo on his horizontal frame: (1) display a small version the full photo in the center of the screen with blurred areas to the right and left, or (2) display as much of the photo as possible (cropping out what doesn't fit) the frame's field. Personally, I like the look of option 2, but others might like option 1. A couple small quibbles: 1. he frame keeps saying there's an update available, but everytime I try to download and install it, it seems to just end up back at the pre-update state. I've just given up on trying to do the update. 2. I suppose this is true of all things like this, but there are a few settings I'd like to be able to change but cannot (for instance, shared pics all display a small note in the corner with the name of the sender and the date received; I'd like the option to suppress that, but don't seem to be able to). I do love that the touch screen allows you to scroll through photos at your own pace, as well as make choices about excluding photos from rotation, etc. The frame itself has a slender medium-dark woodtone surround which is quite stylish and attractive. This would make a great gift for a friend across-the-miles or grandparents. ... show more

  • Nice upgrade to the older picture frames
This item was chosen to replace an older picture frame unit for displaying digital photos. I have to say the feature set of this item for the price was a great value. Installation was quick and setup was a little glitchy because of a firmware update right at setup. You can skip it, but always best to have the latest updates on electronics. I love the feature to send pictures to the frame. You can do it fro anywhere once you have the app (Frameo) that connects to the frame. It takes minutes to get up and running and seconds to upload a photo. You have to do some adjustment prior to sending so it gets framed nicely, but picture appears clear and screen is bright. I had a minor issue upon upgrade where the screen started flickering. I went into settings and adjusted the brightness down a little and the flicker stopped. Lots of features to explore. I'll update this review as I get more familiar with the product. ... show more

  • Easy to use and set up
The photo quality comes over really nicely. It's easy to set up and send to from the app and you can add friends as contributors to the photo reel. The app lets you choose the part of the photo to focus on as well. I haven't figured out how to speed up the viewing but I am sure there has to be a way. The app only allows you to use your main gallery of photos, I was hoping to create a gallery specifically for the frame so that it was easy to upload in bulk but it is 1 photo at at a time with several steps so that's the only down-side, the process to get set up with your first photos is a little tedious. I think one picture at a time is going to be a lot more manageable. You can send video and turn the sound off so that's really nice. You can have the sound on too but that would be annoying. I love the idea of gifting one of these to a technology inept parent or grandparent so that you can send to them and keep them updated on family things. As long as there is an internet connection to wifi it should work to send from anywhere. ... show more

  • Decent, functional device with significant software issues
TL;DR: Hardware is fine for a basic digital photo frame. Software is a hot mess which may not matter if you don’t need those features. I have it on a shelf at work and once I got photos loaded onto it, it was nice, and I will keep using it. Whatever it’s weaknesses, it does what it needs to do. Good news first. This frame does what you need it to do nicely and has some nice options like scheduled off time, frame fitting and video playing. The picture looks good from a few feet away, which is how it’s likely to be experienced. Neutral news… the overall feel is cheap. The woodgrain isn’t great looking and is reminiscent of old ‘70s automotive interior styling. This should really use a micro-SD instead of a full-size SD. No one uses full-size SD cards anymore. It also uses a barrel power adapter and has a USB MiniB port. It just feels like this device was made in 2015. The bad news… I work in IT and development, so I know a little about what I’m talking about here. The software on this thing has a LOT of issues. It’s Android 6… That’s not a deal breaker but that OS was released in 2015. Default language is not English, which is fine except the first three screens have big red warnings that you can’t read before eventually presenting you with a language selection screen. The language selection should probably come first. Firmware ALWAYS says it needs updating but when I run update, the version number doesn’t change, and it still says there is an update. On Android, the app for sending pictures to the frame doesn’t see all my photos. It can’t access my gallery and only sees messages folder. If I take a picture I can’t send it to the frame, which is the whole point of the app. Maybe the iphone app is better. That would be ironic given that this device is Android-based. ... show more
