  • Great RC with caveats
Color: Black Orange Size: Up to 60 KM/H
I purchased the brushless version for my son since he’s ready for a vehicle with more size and speed (~30mph) than the brushed 1/16 scale he currently has. This vehicle is perfect for someone looking for an inexpensive mid level rc, but I’d caution against this as a “cheap” alternative to name brand short course trucks such as the brushless versions of the Traxxas Slash or Arrma Senton. Those vehicles go 15-20mph faster out of the box, have better build quality, and offer superior parts support. As for replacing parts; I’ve found that the website ImexRC.com has the most complete listing (look under the “Samurai 2.0” model). Overall, this is a good truck that offers respectable midrange performance and durability, and if you can pick it up for under $200, it offers a lot of value for the money. Pros: 1/10 brushless 4x4 short course truck Center diff Oil shocks Hex hardware throughout Included fans on motor & esc are high rpm Comes with a 3s battery included ESC is programmable (card not included) Cons: parts availability is not mainstream Overall build and material quality is just “meh” The tiny transmitter works but is something you’d typically find paired with a micro-crawler. Update: After about 25-30 battery packs and 6 months of use, the Nitro is still going strong. The only issue that’s come up is the center diff, which started squeaking after 15-20 battery packs. The stock grease is rather thick and pasty and didn’t lubricate the pin holding the planetary gears. This caused some slight metal wear. I ended up pulling all three diffs, cleaning out the grease, and using Red & Tacky instead. Tips: Out of the box, for our driving style the ESC’s brake force was set way too strong (default 50%) and the reverse force was set way too weak (default 25%). Reprogrammed to 25% and 50% respectively with a Surpass program card for $10. Also, installing a dust cover is worth it, because with any SCT, the inside becomes a debris collector. ... show more

  • Idk what went wrong
Color: Black Orange Size: Up to 60 KM/H
Got one brok within the 2 run just stopped and blinked red on esc, the servo broke and was clicking as well. They sent me a new one that did the same thing. The car is incredible high quality buy the electronics are seriously defective and because of that I would recommend buy because you'll spend 200+ on the car then another 100+ on a new electrical system and it's not worth it. They should sell the car without electronic for cheaper do I'm not wasting money on a electric system that works for a little but then just stops. And like I said if what happened I drive on grass and gravel nothing hard or heavy and not long and it just stop working. Everything was setup good and it's should've work but the electronic were defective without a doubt. ... show more

  • Good truck for those who tinker
Color: Black Orange Size: Up to 60 KM/H
Let me start by saying I am fairly advanced in the hobby. I have built custom 6s and 8s rigs and currently have 42 ground rc's and few drones, planes and gliders. Six 50 cal ammo cans full of batteries. I paid $285 for 3 of these trucks July 2023. I think maybe a Prime day or something (+6% cash back also on card). I've only tried 1 so far. Almost instantly it started making noise and lost rear wheels using the supplied 3s. I disassembled the rear to find nothing wrong. After removing the center diff I discovered the issue. They use a c-clip internally to hold the diff outdrives instead of a pin. The c-clip was not connected correctly and was mangled in the gears. The seller did send me another center diff but it was a hassle diagnosing and fixing day 1. I was able to replace the c-clip and use the center diff so the new one is a spare. A novice would have had to return this. I ran one 3s pack after repairing and the truck is really slow out of the box. The 2000kv motor on 3s runs at a fairly low rpm. I replaced the esc with a 150a Spektrum from a 6s Arrma and an SR315 receiver to pair with a DX5C. Also added front and rear sway bars. Using a Hi-Voltage 6000mah CNHL 4S the truck did 40MPH. The gearing is still stock. Ran three 4s HV packs so far with no issues. Going to try a 6s pack to see what it'll do. After that I'll be changing the pinion to the max it'll fit and going back to 4s. Last is a 3674 3270KV on 4s for it's final version. Plenty of parts available also on various sites. I purchased an aluminum chassis, the front piece and center diff holder but haven't installed them yet. Seems like a good little platform for tinkering but stock it's rather dull. Can't give it 5 stars due to the center diff issue but for the deal I got I'm happy. Hopefully the other 2 are ok. ... show more

  • Amazing value for the price
I installed a spectrum 100 amp brushless ESC and spectrum 3660 3200 KV brushless motor. I made a modification to the body mount posts. Ordinarily when you put the body on the back of the body shell rubs on the bumper and in fact takes all of the weight. Any upside down landings would most likely crack the body shell where that contact takes place. If you cut two 1-in pieces of Bic pen and use the hollow tube to slide over the body mount posts it gives a place for the roll cage to rest on so the body doesn't rub on the rear bumper.(see pics) I opened the front and rear diff housing and lubed the gears with Dynamite Marine Grease To the body shell.. I removed the roll cage and reinforced the body with Shoe Goo, masonry thread tape (thicker and stronger than threaded drywall tape) and when that cured I brushed liquid rubber across the entire inside. After I tried I reinstalled the roll cage. This method provides excellent protection for your body shells and combined with skid guards on the outside it makes them virtually indestructible. I've run this car a few times in my yard and so far it has been awesome. It's winter right now so I can't really give it the full treatment but when I do I will post a running review. This car shares many many parts with another company called VRX Racing. I have found many upgrades and replacement parts on AliExpress as well as eBay. You'll have much better luck looking for VRX parts then you will Laegendary parts. HAPPY TRAILS, GUYS and good luck! ... show more
