The 1.5-inch Bunkie Board , Split Bunkie Board provides a surface foundation for any platform beds, bunks and daybeds. It adds support to the mattress and will keep mattress stay in good shape thus extending the life of your mattress. It will give a firm bottom support for the mattress and raises the mattress up for about 1.5 inches. When a mattress is placed directly on slats or metal spring, the mattress will have the tendency to rip or sink. These can be avoided with the use of a Bunkie board. Using a Bunkie board doubles the mattress' life expectancy. This Bunkie board is a good alternative in lieu of a box spring that may be too high for day beds. It will give the bed a lift without adding much height. This Bunkie board is strong enough to be used directly on bed frame in lieu of a box spring. It will give the mattress a lift which is a quite low but will definitely hold up the mattress. It is wrapped in a stitch bonded nonwoven fabric. It meets federal standards 1632 and 1633 fire code. The full sized bunkie boards fit perfectly on our full sized, metal bed frame. While providing support for our mattress, the bunkie board also makes the bed not squeaky. No squeak whatsoever. The gray color is nice and the boards are covered with a nice material. You remove from the shipping box and lay them on the bed frame. That’s the entire assembly.     • Amazing foundation
I rarely write revues but I think these are so amazing I had to. We have a queen bed with a very thick mattress and box spring. I felt it was too high and too firm so I got rid of the box spring which made the bed the right height. I then purchased a very nice mattress topper. Because the mattress lost its foundation it became wavy over the minimal slats that were on the bed frame. So I purchased these bunkies and they were perfect because they are firm but thin so the bed is still soft. They are covered in fabric so the mattress does not move around. I now have the perfect bed. I was worried it would make the mattress too firm again but not the case. ... show more

    • Made a Metal bed Frame Comfy
The full bed for my son’s room has a metal bed frame that can get uncomfortable after laying on the full foam mattress for a while. He doesn’t notice it, but when lay in his bed to read at night it can get really uncomfortable as I start to feel the metal bars under the foam. So, I wanted to get something that would support the mattress & make it so that I could not feel the metal bars. I did not want a box spring because those are just too thick and heavy and would make the bed way too tall. So I did a Google search and found out about bunkie boards. I looked at some other boards before this… but most of them looked like they were either plywood strapped together with nylon or they were the kinds of boarding you’d need for a traditional framed bed that didn’t already have bars. This bunkie board looked a bit more sturdy and solid from the pictures& I like that it is covered with cloth. The shipping was quick for this item which I appreciate, especially considering the cost. The price point is actually a bit higher than I expected to pay, but the product does seem to be quality and sturdy so far. The full size is two twin size boards& you just sit them side by side on the base of the bed. I will say that it would be nice if this came with some sort of apparatus to link the boards together. While they stay together well so far under the weight of the mattress, I could see how someone trying to put the mattress on top of a bed frame like mine (no raised edges) could easily have a very frustrating experience, especially if they were working by themselves. I did this by myself but the bed I was installing them on is in a corner and has a tent over the top, these things together acted as a kind of stabilizer for the boards so they didn’t slide off the frame while I was putting the mattress back on. Otherwise I could not have installed these by myself. Another thing that may be needed by someone with a frame like mine is some kind of nonslip material. Maybe one of those mats that goes under carpet or something… to prevent the boards from slipping on top of the frame. Especially if the bed is not in a corner like mine. The current set up will suffice for now, but I will be getting some additional materials to keep the boards in place atop the frame. Overall, this is a great product. I do hope that my feedback serves to give the makers some ideas for future iterations. ... show more

It's ok wasn't what I was looking for. I was hoping it was more supportive. But it works with the bed that my daughter got. It's ok but may not perfect for all cases. :/

it is a wood frame covered with a thin fabric. It is shallow inside so will not provide equally distributed weight of the mattress, therefore is not providing the necessary support when a people lay down on top

    • Have a very thick mattress over it
We have a 3” gel mattress over the bunkie boards. In the picture you cannot tell that it doesn’t have a flat solid surface. It has slats on both sides. If your mattress isn’t thick enough you will feel them. It’s very uncomfortable. I have ordered another foam mattress to try and break it up
