  • First world problem solved, mostly
Color: Push Pull Rod Size: 38"-63"
I guess it's the definition of a first world problem to have a house with such high windows you can't easily reach them to adjust the shades, but, I do, and yes, it's been annoying - who wants to drag a ladder in from the barn to do that? So they mostly just stay where they're left, which make them pointless. This handy rod is the obvious solution, and it's nothing special, except for the unusual shape of the hook used to grab and adjust the blinds. That's very important, because you don't want to tear or bend the blinds, a problem I had no obvious solution for. This hook is rounded molded plastic, almost a comb-like arrangement, so it provides enough strength to manipulate the blinds without harming them. That part works beautifully. What doesn't work so well, oddly, is the adjustment mechanism for extending the rod. These are so standard you probably already have several similar extensible handles in your home, and they all work the same way - you just rotate one end to loosen it, adjust the length, then rotate it back the other way to tighten things up. I can't seem to figure out how this one works; all I can do is make it come apart into far more pieces than it seems like it ought to have. I get the impression that the idea was to make an improved and stronger tightening mechanism, working both inside and outside of the pipe to be double-strong, which is a good idea - except how to use it is non-obvious. Fortunately, I didn't break anything, and was able to get it all put back together at the length I wanted it. I won't be messing around with adjustments anytime soon though. Otherwise, this gadget seems rather overpriced for what it does, but it does do the job effectively and I'm glad I have it. ... show more

  • Nice quality
Color: Push Pull Rod Size: 38"-63"
The media could not be loaded. I replaced all of our home’s blinds with cellular shades last winter. In our living room, we have 4 transom windows over our regular windows. I’m 5’3”, so there is no way I can reach those shades without using a ladder. It may sound silly, but I just couldn’t bring myself to buy the $54 (on sale) extension pole after having to custom order all the shades. When I purchased this extension pole, I thought it would probably be a narrow, somewhat flimsy pole, buy would get the job done. I was pleasantly surprised! This is a very nice extension pole that is about the same circumference as a shower curtain rod. It has two main pieces- one pole that slides back into the other- and an end cap that has two types of hooks for the shades’ handles. At first, I didn’t know if the hook that pulls the shade down would work for our shades, but realized that if I slip the hook in and turn it slightly, it kind of locks in and works perfectly. One reviewer notes that it was difficult to extend the rod without it coming apart, but I did not find that to be the case. The way this rod works is much like a window cleaning or similar extension pole. You twist the locking piece in the middle of the rod enough to loosen its “grip” on the inner extension pole just enough so it can slide, then you twist it back to tighten it. This only takes about a 1/4 of a turn to accomplish and I’ve posted a video to demonstrate. I think perhaps the confusion comes from the fact that it sort of does resemble a tension rod, but it’s not; this is an extension rod, so it doesn’t require an inner spring that you’re trying to compress or expand by continually twisting the rod. In this case, you’re simply loosening the locking piece on the outer pole to allow the inner pole to extend. This is a very good value for the money. I can’t imagine the $54 (did I mention that’s the SALE price) one would be any nicer. I’m thrilled to no longer need a ladder to adjust the cellular shades! ... show more

  • Glad to find these!
As the owner of a houseboat and an RV we are always having to replace some of the curtain pulley things. Why the curtains have to be hung different than in a house, who knows?! My sailboat curtains were sewn with tiny buttons run into the rails because I guess the last owners couldn't find these pulleys. These work great, they are the right size and while I haven't put a curtain on them yet, they glide without a problem. You get 20 in a single package which address the whole sailboat or provides replacement parts for the houseboat rails. ... show more

My new favorite toy. Great for moving the shades up and down because I am short.
