I spent a great deal of time and energy clearing out overgrown flowerbeds this spring. I purchased this weed guard ‘fabric’ to keep the weeds out. When laying it out, I realized it was woven plastic unlike my previous weed guard purchases that were non woven…more like Pellon type fabric. I was skeptical about the ability of water to soak through the plastic, but re-read the description which states it was for use in flower beds, so proceeded. It kept the weeds down, but my plants suffered. They were not getting water around the root base, only through the hole cut for the trunk of the shrubs or plant stems. The ground under the plastic was hard, dry, and cracked. The plants were dying. I had to remove it so the plants could get watered. I’m back to the beginning now, and using cardboard. It absorbs the water and keeps the ground moist. I gave it two stars because if your purpose is to stop weeds in a drive or walkway, or anything without living things, it would work.
