  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted for meal prep!
Size: Sandwich Bag Color: Teal
I already love the idea of meal prep and often cook large batches of grains or soup and freeze them in jars. However, I realized that I could get more in my small freezer when I could lay things flat. I turned to plastic bags but didn't really want to overuse plastic if I could avoid it (to help out the earth). Next, I turned to re-usable silicone bags. I became frustrated because I could not find a single one manufactured in the US and I'm tired of knock-offs and products that may or may not be safe because there simply aren't enough resources to oversee everything manufactured and imported. Enter these Zip Top bags. They are food safe and made in the US. I realize they are more expensive and not everyone has the budget to support this idealism, so I'm pitching in and doing it for us. The colors are lovely and the zipper top is firm and easy to close. I can't speak to leaks because I specifically got them for storing and freezing grains. I got four of them. Each bag holds 2 x 1 cup blocks of frozen grains (seen here). I cook rice/quinoa or whatever grain and then I freeze the batch in 1 cup portions. I use these silicone 1 cup freezing trays to get the little 1 cup blocks: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GSSR5V2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They are also pricey but a good investment for re-use. Not made in the US but they are from a small business with reputable claims that they are made safely and the workers paid fairly. I can use one tray, freeze in two batches, and get 8 cups total. I put labels on the bags: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PVDVWM2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now I have fast whole grains to pull out of the freezer and put with a meal for any night of the week. I just take out a 1 cup block portion and plop in the microwave for a minute or so, add the flavors I want, and a big part of my healthy plate is ready! It's an upfront cost investment but saves so much in materials and cost over time and gets healthy meals on the table quickly for any of those busy days! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great re-usable storage container
Size: 3 Dish Set Color: Frost
I like being able to flip these inside out to clean/dry. It does mean they can leak liquids from the corners but a good trade-off. I use these in the freezer and to bring lunch with me to work.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Better than other reusable ziplocks but not leakproof
Size: Medium Dish Color: Frost
Way easier to clean and eat out of than other bags but does not completely close, I will still buy these over the other reuseable bags

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Stasher vs. Zip Top
Size: 2 Bag Set Color: Frost
I am posting this same review of Stasher vs. Zip Top for both product pages. ************* Head to Head Winners ************* Tighter seal - Stasher (important if you are stuffing in a backpack or with sous vide, less important in a fridge) Vertical storage - Zip Top (all of them stand up very well on flat surfaces) Loading of food and liquids - Zip Top (hands down winner, Stasher doesn't stand up well, and generally needs to be loaded from the side. Zip Top is great for pouring in drinks and soups, hard to do with Stasher) Dishwashing - Zip Top (there are no nooks and crannies for food to be stuck because all corners smooth/rounded, they also stand up by themselves upside down when drying. Stasher has a tendency to close, so they take longer to dry) Sous Vide - Stasher (the tighter seal and thinner material make this a better choice for sous vide) Pricing - Zip Top (generally a tad bit less expensive than Stasher, but they both seem a bit overpriced, considering the costs of the knockoffs) Manufactured in USA - Zip Top (Stasher is made in China, requires transportation, pollutes the environment, etc.) Material: Stasher is thinner and slightly more flexible. It appears to be made in 2 halves and glued together. Not sure if that is a good thing, or if there ia any residual solvent left from being glued together. Zip Top appears to be made from a single mold. To me, the Zip Top material has a better firmer feel, and subjectively, I prefer to put leftovers in the Zip Top over the flexible, plasticky feel of Stasher. Stasher has a very clear transparent side and a partially transparent side, whereas Zip Top has the same degree of transparency throughout the entire product, which is somewhere between the full and partial transparency of Stasher. Both are great products, but in general, Zip Top has become my go to for storing food and leftovers, and looks organized in the fridge since it can stand up on its own. I use Stasher when doing sous vide, and when something needs to go into a backup and spills needs to be avoided. Disclaimer: None. I purchased these with my own money. No freebies, no bribes. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Alternative to Plastic
Size: Snack Bag Color: Teal
These bags are great for the purpose I use them, which is dry snacks. We felt so wasteful using plastic zip lock bags, and were over using toddler snack cups with the amount of space they take up, these looked like a great alternative. I bought these and Stashers to compare, as I was looking for something to store kid snacks in that they could just grab and go without help. Stashers definitely have a better seal, but still are not leak proof. These Zip Tops are also not leak proof, but I felt they let the same amount of air out that the Stashers did. It does state clearly on the package, and in the description before ordering, to stand upright when using with liquids. Therefore, I can not find them at fault with leaks with liquids. But I wouldnโ€™t store liquids in zip lock bags either. That being said, I love the Zip Tops better. The stand on their own is great, especially for using them as storing snacks that the kids can just grab and eat directly out of the bag. They are definitely easier to clean inside the dishwasher and dry nicely. I feel like the Stashers have tough to wash/dry spots, and takes longer to dry. The Stashers are also harder to open, my kids canโ€™t open them and itโ€™s a struggle for me. Plus they feel more delicate then the Zip Locks. I will be buying more Zip Locks. They will be great for backpacking and cooking meals in too! ... show more
