With an extra firm mattress, hubby and I were waking up with back and hip soreness. I really relied on the reviews of this product to give us some relief. Thanks to all the great reviews and now here is another one. We aired it out on patio for an afternoon, but really had no smell. First night's sleep was an amazing difference. This cushion really helped and we were finally comfortable and no aches and pains in the morning. We recently spent the night in a hotel and the bed was kinda hard and guess what - we woke up with aches in our hips. Couldn't wait to get home to our "new bed". Honestly, the reviews of this product are authentic. This foam mattress topper really helped. We put in on the mattress and covered it with our mattress cover. Considering to cover it with an older sheet in the future. Had to purchase deep pocket sheets with new extra firm mattress and they still fit nicely with the additional depth of mattress topper. This mattress topper is truly impressive. Most memory foam is hot, and I am a very, very hot sleeper, so I was nervous about getting anything memory foam. But this is incredible! Not only is it not hot...it's actually a little cool! This lets me pile on the blankets like I like to do (and haven't been able to do properly since I was about 13 years old) and not overheat. Amazing product. I recommend this enthusiastically to anyone who sleeps hot. And, of course, it's also nice and soft. I actually got it to go under a thin, fabric mattress topper I already have, because I needed more cushioning for the awful, hard mattress I have (I call it the snare drum). I prefer the feel of fabric, and this combination works perfectly. The gel memory foam gives me the thick, soft, squishy layer of coolness, and with the thin fabric topper over that, it's like I have a completely new mattress! The snare drum is now the comfy cloud. More information you might want: This gel topper doesn't smell like some standard memory foam toppers. There's also no scary time waiting for the foam to expand; it doesn't squish into nothingness and it doesn't come this way either (it just comes rolled). So far, I've seen no evidence that the blue color transfers to light fabric (I'll update this review if that changes). If you're worried about the topper not having fitted sides to grip your mattress, (1) I wouldn't worry because it seems to stay in place well, even as you're trying to move it, and (2) you can always get a cheap, fitted fabric topper for on top, too. Be a little gentle as you're pulling the topper out of the bag (or just cut the bag it comes in), as its wonderful non-slip surface can mean you pull so hard on it you tear it a little. I was very impressed though; I tore mine a little, but when I put it on the bed, you can't even see (or feel) the tear. So, if you do tear it a little in the center while yanking on it, don't even worry. Definitely worth the money. Great price! Great product! ... show more

I really like this topper, it's very comfortable. I only gave it 4 stars because it was 8" longer than my queen mattress. So I had to sloppily cut it down to the proper size, which I shouldn't have to do.

This is not an advertisement. I had the three inch memory foam dreamfinity cover with the cooling. Purchased from Sams for about $160. Used it for about nine months. Summer and winter. It was very nice, but they do smell for 2 to 3 days of chemicals once unpacked. Very soft. Cooling really works for about half an hour. The Zinus is about half as soft at two inches. I've only had it for about one month but my brand new bed needed breaking in. This really helped. It's perfect for me because I like a little more support. It appears that this brand is being aired out before packaging. This one didn't smell nearly as bad as my previous one. It fits fairly well where the Dreamfinity was slightly oversized. Both were king sized, and that may just be because of the mattress brand. Had no problem with either. If your bed is too hard and you like extra soft, go with a 3". If your back is soar and you need a little support, go with the 2". The cooling is nice. You have to flip it in the winter, but it only lasts for a bit. I don't seem to get over heated with either though. It's a little harder to keep the sheets on with the 3" but either way, you'll need to look into sheet stays unless your matress is flat. In general this is a great product for the price and I'm glad I bought it. ... show more
