    • Simple way to add hot water to a sink.

I was looking to add hot water to a bunkhouse sink with as little effort as possible, and this looked like a simple option, needing only a few connectors and a regular household outlet rather than additional wiring. Prior to installing this unit I did some testing: After being filled (2.5 G.) with 55 degree F water and set on high, the unit took about 30 minutes to get to 168 F (measured with a temp probe), at which point it stopped heating. This was as described. Then when turned off, the water temp only dropped 17 degrees (to 151) after 3 hours, so it does appear to be pretty-well insulated. The installation is easy and the instructions a bit cryptic but okay - it is working and hot water in the sink is being appreciated. It is stated to be a source of "instant" hot water ... for small sinks like ours that get light use, it should do that. As the tank took 30 minutes to heat a full fill, I expect it won't meet that objective if more than a couple gallons were being used within a half hour. The biggest issue for us is the building it is installed in only gets seasonal use, and it will need to be drained whenever freezing is a possibility. The directions refer to doing so, but it is not set up to be drained easily. What I think I will do is install a shut-off valve and inlet at the start of the line that feeds it, and then be able to use an air compressor to blow the tank/line out through that. If this was easy (like a drain valve on the bottom of the unit) I'd do this 3-4 times/year, but as it will be more involved, we will not use it late fall/early spring (in MN). Seems like an efficient, inexpensive way to provide a modest amount of hot water easily. ... show more

With over a 3 minute wait for hot water from the other side of my house, I was wasting 100's of gallons every week. Or I would just do without hot water, if I wanted to rinse a pot or something quick. BUT NOT ANYMORE!! This easy-to-install unit is beautiful. I find myself turning on the hot water just to feel the immediate 120 degree water. Yes, I installed this myself into the HOT WATER LINE. Now I get IMMEDIATE HOT WATER. And I can adjust the temperature hotter or cooler, whichever I prefer at the time. I will offset the low initial cost in about a month. Oh and BTW, I would never recommend NOT following directions, BUT I just sat the unit on the cabinet floor, under the sink. I didn't mount it to the wall. EASY INSTALL. NO PROBLEMS. From now and forever, nothing but hot water and profit. My only complaint is that the included directions are pretty skimpy and actually incorrect at one point. I actually learned more on this site. This is a perfect unit for a small cabin or any small space that has power. You have to have a outlet or power source. The heating took a bit longer but hopefully you won’t need much hot water at once as this is not a tankless hot water heater like you’d have in your house. It is good for anything small. I had it hooked up with minimal effort and do so enjoy this little convenience. My only issue with it is having to drain it if you’re not constantly using. You would think they would make is a bit easier to drain knowing it isn’t something that is going to be used year-round. Other than that, it’s great. ... show more

I recommend that you use it in your kitchen as the power draw would require an outlet on a 20-amp circuit... the same as your kitchen garbage disposal. Hot water very quickly! I opted for the 10L model, as it has a smaller footprint than the 15L, and I wanted to put it under-counter. What I like: 1. Super simple to install. 2. Great for applications where you only have cold water plumbed. 3. 110v 4. Easily identifiable and simple to use temperature control. 5. Small footprint. 6. Thermal quality is very good. Easily keeps water at 50 C without cycling for hours. 7. Water can get really hot at the highest setting! (this is both both good and bad) What I don't like: 1. Temperature is stated in Celsius on the LED display. No option to change that I could find. 2. High amperage draw. Instructions call for a 16 Amp breaker. I put it on a circuit with a 15 Amp breaker, and it does indeed trip when another appliance (a dishwasher in my case) is running. Running by itself, it does not trip the breaker, but as the instructions state, it should be on a breaker above 15A. 3. Water can get really hot at the highest setting. You could easily scald yourself if you're not careful. Bottom line: It is a nice little heater at a fair price. The usefulness far outweighs the minor complaints I have. ... show more
