I rarely (if ever) write reviews, but this one deserves it. After having some expensive Lutron shades installed in some rooms, I explored alternative options and came across Yoolax. I was extremely worried about going with a company with no website based far away from the US, but thought I shall try for one of my rooms, and if it works order for the other rooms where I didn't have Lutron installed. The buying experience off Amazon was great. Once the order was placed, Yoolax reached out to me to confirm the dimensions. I had an existing valance so to be extra sure they had me post photos of the valance to confirm that the shades and the dimensions would work. They guided me on the right dimension to choose, shared photos of the fabric so I can be sure of what I am getting without being able to physically see them (I had personally selected and inspected the Lutron shades). Once confirmed, they sent me the shades well packed and delivered sooner than expected. When I received it, I couldn't find the mounting brackets, so I sent them an email with a photo of the parts that I received and within hours they responded with an email and photo indicating where I will find the brackets (embedded in one of the styrofoam blocks to prevent scratches). So it was just a miss on my part in not finding it. Install was super easy. I installed it with a Broadlink hub and have Alexa and Homekit (via Homebridge) working like a charm. Great company to work with, and excellent shades. The motor is noisier than the Lutron motors, but not noticeable. If I knew of Yoolax earlier, I would've had more Yoolax shades than Lutron.     • Expensive look at a reasonable price

I bought 3 grey solar shades to install side by side over a large double sliding door. Once confirmed, the seller shipped it out within 3 days. The shipping took another 2 weeks which is not bad considering we are under global shipment blockage. The shade fabric, the hardware, the valance and the remote are of good quality. The Installation was really straight forward. Took maybe 10 mins per shade. The programming took a bit longer because I was trying to follow the video. DON'T watch the video. Once I find the instruction booklet, the programming is straight forward. I programmed all 3 shades on to the same remote and it was MAGICAL to open and close with a single click. I charged up all 3 shades and plan to charge them about once a month. The USB extension cord is a must buy. But I think any usb extension cord should do. If you butt more than 1 shade together, if both ends have no motors, the gap between the shades is about 0.5 inch. If one end has a motor, the gap increases to ~ 1.5 inch. Make sure you only order and install with the non motor sides together. I checked some other so called US based window treatment stores. They are either Mexican or Chinese made anyway. Why not go straight to the source and save more? Now I feel bougie everyday looking at my beautiful shades and impressing my guests knowing that I didn't spend much at all.     • Good shade, unless needed avoid the SMART motor

Good bits first: So far, once I got the remote working, everything is great. Amazon asked me to rate "sheerness" not sure what they mean as I didn't want a sheer. But, this has a nice translucence while blocking the bright sun. Operation is smooth, and it is easy to add set points. Obviously, for the price it can't be beat in the market currently. Now, some thoughts. This is not a "don't buy this" review, more like "keep this in mind and read the description carefully." The SMART motor only works with certain Alexa devices - check the description. I don't have Alexa but thought I needed the SMART motor to do any home automation integration. You actually don't, for most home automation you are going to need a separate hub. The reason I recommend against the SMART right now is that there are no installation videos, etc. available yet. Maybe soon they will have one. It has a different remote that is not a generally available and easy to find remote. The REMOTE motor comes with a remote that you can find elsewhere. This was frustrating for me as I had a problem with my remote which made it very hard to do the initial sync, and I couldn't find anything online about the remote I have. Being completely fair to Yoolax they have offered to send a replacement if my problems persist, but it took me two days to diagnose and thought I might have to send back the whole thing just because of the remote. My shade is 6 feet wide, I hung it myself but it took a lot of effort. Highly recommend if you are doing wide to have a helper present. I wasn't really thinking about the weight and had to mount this higher than I wanted in order to use more hanging brackets. My initial idea was to have the shade below the top jamb but this was dumb on my part, the shade is too heavy to only be supported at the ends with the included hardware. I guess you could custom make some brackets if you wanted to do it this way. All this to say that if you are doing an "outside mount" the only good option will be to hang above the jamb, so size accordingly. As with all customized things that are purchased online, do your work ahead of time, don't guess and think you can adjust. ... show more
