I bought 2 of these because I couldn't find one that is the size I needed to replace. That being said, these came being the perfect size to install and have an 1/8" on each side of the window and about the same in the middle between the 2 blinds. They are true to size, so order properly. They feel a little lighter in weight than any older ones (I'm not sure what is less weighted in these ones). The pull cord and the rod work smoothly and effortlessly. The install isn't the most straight forward - but easy enough for anyone with a bit of diy mentality. We bought cordless plastic blinds for our kitchen windows less than a year ago, and due to not having a cord, the slats toward the bottom started breaking quickly, and just looked ugly. We started searching for blinds with cords (we don't have small children around) and found these aluminum blinds. They're perfect for what we need. I like the fact that they won't break easily due to being metal instead of plastic. Great blinds: easy to install and cleaning is a breeze. Much better than the plastic blinds out there. However, to raise and lower them there is not a latch on the cords but a catch you install on the side of the window. Just wanted to let you know.

Excellent price vs custom cut, returnable if you made a mistake on the width. Non see through when closed. Mini slats preserve view. My window was the correct width but I was just slightly off in length. There was no length for 70” leaving 7 1/2” to fill but I used the space as a decorative display. Very nice!! All photos taken the same day and time. Even nicer in the sun. Keeps heat out in the summer surprisingly if closed on a sunny window! ... show more

The detail description on these says they are 47.2" wide which means they will fit inside the opening for a standard 48" framed window. They are actually 47.5" and can only be mounted on the wall above the window. They also stick out from the wall almost 2", so if you have curtains (like I do) then you will need bracket extenders for the rod to keep the curtains from snagging whenever they are opened or closed. Because the blinds these replaced were literally crumbling apart, I had no choice but to install them. However, as soon as I find a set that are correctly dimensioned these are going in the trash. ... show more

    • Third time is a charm?

I needed a metal blind in my West-facing room because my vinyl blinds keep melting in the sun. I'm not picky. I wanted aluminum blinds at a reasonable price for my income. I think these meet that requirement. I ordered the first and discovered that I'd measured wrong. I should've known better. I have 12 blinds in this house, and I've had to replace 6 of them three times. Anyway, I exchanged them for the right size. They arrived with the bottom rail bent. The product box and shipping box were both in excellent condition. I sent them back for a replacement, and my newest fits and looks great. Except, the locking mechanism to hold them in place when raised does not work. If I actually ever raised the blinds in that room, I'd be sending them back for yet another replacement. But, they can hang there and do their job: block the light :) These were easy for me to put up because they fit right into my old blinds' holder. I haven't had to put up new hardware in years because I've just replaced the same size blinds over and over. But, the first time I put up hardware for hanging blinds in 1999 was easy; measuring tape and screwdriver. ... show more
