  • It works OK for short light boards
Works OK, short soft top is secure for rides to the beach. Some issues getting clamps tight enough, smooth surfaces allow tubes to rotate in the clamp attached to the seat post, need to tighten the bolts so much I worry about breaking them. Bungie cords it comes with are too tight and narrow profile, they will damage your surfboards rail if stretched over it. I use a wide profile higher quality bungie I bought at a hardware store, wrap it around the seat post a few times to make it the correct length then hook each end around the bungie hooks sticking out of the ends of the rack tubing, this protects the rail on my soft top from getting permanently dented by the too short and very narrow bungies the rack comes with. Easy $5 upgrade and this rack still comes in far less expensive than others. ... show more

  • Will not hold up to time
Racks were easy to put together and install. Broke at the base where attaches to bike only after one use. Returned for a replacement, hopefully I just got unlucky.

  • Only use for sub 7' boards
I put a longboard on this and the neck snapped going over a bump in the road. If you have a small board it will do fine.

  • You should get it if you're handy
For the price it's not a terrible deal but it doesn't work straight out of the box. The seat post clamp is just slightly too big so it doesn't tighten down and the whole assembly moves. With a board on the bike, in wind, there's a lot of torque on the post clamp and it seems like there are a lot of simple design changes that could make this a lot better. I used a grinder to remove about 1mm of material and now it seems like it will hold. I expected I'd have to massage this to get it to work based on how cheap it was (I paid 40) but it's biggest failure point is also perhaps the most critical. If the clamp doesn't hold and the whole thing rotates back against wind resistance, it could push the board into the rear wheel causing a crash or board damage or both. It's cheaply made. The finish is thin enough to see the metal below it in places and it was applied such that in other places it's built up which contributed to the poor fitment. ... show more
