Description

Works with PS5 Got a PS5 and need more capacity? The GAMMIX S70 BLADE is your answer. Plug one into your PS5 and enjoy better, smoother performance over the built-in storage. According to the announcement from Sony Interactive Entertainment Co., Ltd., even if the continuous reading and writing speed is higher than the official standard, not all in-game performance features will match the built-in solid state drive of the PS5 console. Next-Gen Performance with PCIe 4.0 With the latest PCIe Gen4 interface, the GAMMIX S70 BLADE will help you dominate the competition with sequential read/write performance of up to 7400/6800/MB per second. Q&A Why can’t I use my new PCIe drive as primary drive? By default, your new PCIe SSD should work as data storage drive. Due to the Microsoft Secure Boot regulation, if user chooses to use the PCIe SSD as primary drive or installing windows to this drive, user must change the PCIe drive to UEFI drive in BIOS. Why do I see different speeds than advertised speeds? Speeds In our listings are from our internal testing results, actual performance depends on drive capacity, host device, OS and applications. If your performed speed is much lower than the advertised speed, make sure your PCIe SSD is installed on PCIe_1 slot (check your M/B manual for slot detail), NVMe function is enabled in BIOS, and the drive is set as a data drive. • Fits PS5 perfect with different brand heatsink. Update: Bricked. Update: Fixed
Capacity: 2TB Style: [S70] 7400/6800MB/s
Additional Update 8/16/2021: Adata pulled down the firmware update from their page, spent 2 days and fixed the issue adding it back to the site. I have confirmed that the newest firmware update program no longer bricks the 2TB drives. It does not update them either as it reports the drives running 3.2.F.P7 do not need updated. Tests have been ran by other users to confirm that the performance fixes from 3.2.9.1 are present in the 3.2.F.P7 firmware. So I can once again highly recommend this drive. The price has went up since when I purchased it for $309, but even at $329, this is still one of the best priced 2TB drives with this performance level available right now. Additional Update 8/7/2021: I tracked down the exact problem. The 2TB drives are shipping with firmware 3.2.F.P7 and if you attempt to update from 3.2.F.P7 to 3.2.9.V it will brick your drive. I have found a forum where a bunch of other people have also ended up with bricked drives and are being given the run around by ADATA support who is not acknowledging this problem. Only update to the latest firmware if your SSD comes with 3.2.7.3 on it. That will work fine. ADATA needs to acknowledge this issue and rapidly fix it, because right now their official firmware tool that anyone at all can download will brick their most expensive drives. Lowering to 2 star until this issue is fixed. A drive with an official software update that will kill it cannot be recommended. Review Update 8/7/2021: So I was told I should update the firmware on this drive as the latest version will provide better performance as well as thermals. Doing so completely bricked the SSD. I have two of them, and I stupidly thought this might be a fluke with one drive, so I also updated the firmware of the second drive and it bricked as well. It would proceed with the firmware update using their official tool, made it about 50% of the way through, then threw an error that said "Firmware update failed." then the drive itself changed to "Disconnect" and all the specs for it vanished. At this point the PC will no longer boot at all when the drive is plugged into it, and the PS5 will take 5 minutes to boot and will no longer detect the drive at all. So both of my drives are dead. I am going to send them back, order another, and ask adata support how I am supposed to update firmware. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ By default this will not fit into the PS5 as the included heatsink is too tall, and the product description says that the heatsink cannot be removed. That is only partially true. The top part of the heatsink can easily be unscrewed and slid off without a problem, which is the part that makes it not fit into the PS5. The bottom part is the part that cannot be removed. Once removing the top part I was easily able to install a better quality low profile heatsink to replace it and then it fit inside the PS5 perfectly. So for those wondering, this can indeed be used in the PS5, just not out of the box. It requires an additional purchase of a slim heatsink to replace the tall beast that comes on this by default. I went with the icepc graphine coated copper heatsink that is 1.5mm tall. ... show more

  • PS5 users. It works great. Ratchet tested.
Capacity: 1TB Style: [S70] 7400/6800MB/s
I would be lying if I said it was easy to just slip in there but this bulky beast fit in and I finally pushed in. And one more thing. The heat sink is too big for the ps5 and if you want to find another heat sink that'll work that's on you. But what I did was just bend the metal cover over it and screwed it in. It worked. If it becomes a problem I'll update. Games tested so far. Call of Duty worked perfectly fine. Ratchet and clank was the most demanding game for the ssd so I had to try it. The game loaded like less than a second.. The warping worked just like it should. This ssd is very good and for now I can highly recommend it especially if you wanna save money. Lastly my read speed test was above 6100mb/s. Works and now I can finally have all my games on my console. 1.03tb fully available. Update: February 19, 2022 Still working perfectly fine. ... show more

  • Great SSD for great price
Capacity: 1TB Style: [S70] 7400/6800MB/s
Shipped really fast and speeds are spot on. Technically “too big” for PS5, however it fits fine anyway. You can screw the metal panel back on without the lip of it going back in. See pics. Main white back panel fits back on just fine too. No need to take off heatsink to be honest.

  • S70 version works with PS5
Capacity: 1TB Style: [S70] 7400/6800MB/s
I bought the Gammix S70 1TB to go along with the recent beta update for the PS5 that enables the NVME slot. While the attached heatsink is larger than Sony's recommendations, it fits fine as long as you leave the m2 slot cover off. The PS5 shell fits back on with no issues, and the drive was instantly recognized. After formatting the drive the PS5 reported a read speed of 6500MB/s. So far I've copied a few games over and they have all loaded and played without issues ... show more

  • PS5 Best and Cheapest SSD Solution
Capacity: 1TB Style: [S70 Blade] 7400/6800MB/s
I ordered this the day I learned the PS5 would release a system update with the ability to finally install an additional SSD to the system. I have a huge game library so the 600 something gb wasn’t cutting it. After some research I found this new S70 blade slim ssd with included heatsink that was cheaper than most ssd’s without heatsink so I checked out faster than it takes Usain Bolt to cross the 100m sprint line. So glad I did because the next day this was sold out. It arrived the next day, it was very easy to install. It came in two parts with the ssd and heatsink separate and all I did is put the heatsink on top of the ssd and put it in the ps5 ssd slot. It would have been nice to have an instruction manual or something for this step as the ssd comes without any paperwork inside but it’s pretty straightforward to do. I installed a bunch of ps5 and ps4 games on this and I gotta say the speeds are remarkable. It is suggested to use this for both ps5 and ps4 games but ps5 game may perform better on console storage however I found the opposite to be true. Games on this ssd are blazing fast, faster than the console storage. Maybe this is because the ps5 storage has a ssd read speed of 5500 mb/s and the S70 blade is close to 7000 mb/s. I prefer games on the ssd rather than console storage now. Buy this if you can, cheapest ssd solution at the moment and faster than some more expensive ones on the market. No brainer!! ... show more

  • Terrible speeds in reality are 55mb/s when transferring files
Capacity: 2TB Style: [S50 Lite] 3900/3200MB/s
I was super happy on buying a PCI 4 gen NVME drive. I run the crystal benchmark result was over 3200 mb/s on read and write. GREAT!!! I bought the lite version that's fine no? What a mistake so this unit has a SLC cache. On testing everything is fine perhaps when installing games on steam or just transferring files you will have a average speed of only 55mb/s. first 5 seconds you get a reasonable speed but the speeds drop really fast. Even using my other NVME pci 3 gen I don't have this issues, and I am getting over 2000mb/s. When downloading games from steam my bottleneck is my 1gpbs internet speed and that is 100mb/s but steady. Right now even my SSD are faster than this drive DON'T BUY THIS CRAP ... show more
