I purchased this Seagate Portable 1 TB External Hard Drive for storing pictures and videos from my IPad. It worked so well that I pulled out all of my old cameras, phones, lap tops, and desktop computers and backed up all of the photos and videos on those, as well. And my Seagate still has a large amount of free space. Every device I plugged the Seagate into, immediately recognized the device and was ready to go. The file transfer speed was amazing. I am very impressed. My only concern was the included usb cable seemed a bit flimsy as far as the Micro B end that plugs into the drive. It worked fine but I was worried it was too flimsy and wouldn’t last. Easy fix, I just purchased a more solid cable. Very -.eased with this purchase. 5 stars ... show more

For the price, I’m beyond satisfied with this HDD. It has that hot cheap plastic smell when in use but after over 2 years (iirc!) of use, it’s still running strong and I still have plenty of storage space left to use. Set up is easy, it works just fine and I don’t notice any considerable increase in loading times on my games (using this for Xbox One). It’s fairly compact and lightweight with only two cords.     • We need a PSA for Windows and Mac usage

I didn't knew that Mac uses a completly different type of drive type or whatever it is, so when I uploaded my files from Windows to the drive and tried to use the drive on my Mac, I was shook to find the drive didn't work on Mac (until I did a few things). I was only able to read the files but to to drag and drop or edit or move or create, nothing, I was scared that I bought a drive that only worked with Windows, but on the start guide they mention Mac, so I was confused, was I doing something wrong? Maybe is broken from factory? After talking to a customer support specialist here at Amazon, they let me know that I needed a driver in order to make those options work and it worked after I installed Paragon. Glad the customer associate was able to guide me through it BUT THAT INFORMATION SHOULD BE ON THE QUICK START GUIDE. ... show more

I have several of these drives and use them for initial file back-up. They are small and bus-powered and so far over several years, I've had no issues with this series of drives. One of these for the last 18 months, has served as my TimeMachine back-up and it simply works silently in the background. It's small and light weight and does its thing without any issues. Seagate is a top manufacturer of harddrives that I've had really good luck with over the years. Plugged it in and let Dish format it to their whatever non-standard formatting they use and poof! Back up and running. Of course like all harddrives when they do finally die, if no backup- No data. Since you cant seem to backup the DVR to another drive or cloud, you lose your movies and shows. But really, who cares anyway, it's crap tv right? I only watch recorded shows so I can fast forward thru the endless and mindless commercials.
