I started off with the X-Sense smoke detectors and was so impressed that I added the security system to it. Both are independent but do connect to the same base and app. Hence, should you get their plan, which may not be necessary, all systems are included. Here’s a copy of my my comments about the smoke detector system that applies to this one as well: After reviewing a number of systems, I settled on X-Sense because these detectors are interconnected and WiFi based. The app is easy to use, the detectors are super easy to connect and installation was effortless. On top of it the functionality is prs rival and offers the right amount of options. I expanded the fire detection system to include the X-Sense security system. Because I can now get instant alerts on my phone wherever I am, I opted not to buy their monitoring plan - yet. Should I do so, the top plan is only $49.99 per year for both fire and security. That’s equivalent to one or two months of regular plans with the more known companies. ... show more

I have lived with this X-Sense system for a couple weeks now and like it very much. I found it pretty easy to install and setup. Explore the app and find you can tune and adjust most settings to make this system work the way you want. The door sensors are magnetic so their use on metal doors have special considerations. Since my doors are wood these did not apply to me. The Alexa integration appears to just allow you to arm and disarm the system with voice commands. Like the Echo Connect, I imagine Amazon will figure out some way to charge more for this in the future but it really is not that useful. I got this 8 piece set for about $50 for the Black Friday deal and it was a no brainer for me because I already had some X-Sense products and don't own any Ring ones. Connecting these to my existing Base Station was completely seamless in the app, now my entire home has professional grade security with push notifications to my phone for the price of dinner at a decent restaurant. They also have a professional monitoring plan where they will automatically dispatch fire trucks to your house if there's a fire, but I can't seem to find anything on their website about an automatic police dispatch. ... show more

This company amazes me every time they do something. Tie a driveway alarm to this and your there. I have five smoke alarms, one mailbox sensor, 16 window and door sensors, three motion detectors and three keypads, four solar lights. As soon ad I can I will also have the leak detectors. Installs easy. App walks you through everything easy. Sensors work and come with a set of batteries. Notifications work great. System is easy to arm and disarm. But If you need more door/window sensors, the only way to get them currently is to buy a whole base kit again. That's unacceptable. I was worried that my metal doors might interfere with the sensors, but I was lucky. I have had it installed for a few weeks to try it out. I keep the keypad in the bedroom with me when I am home and don't have a motion sensor in the bedroom, the rest of the house is under away when I go to bed at night. The only sensor in my bedroom is the door sensor that goes out to the back porch. The girlfriend set it off one night when she decided to use the bedroom door and forgot to turn it to the home setting. The next time was when she got up and went to the kitchen to get a drink and forgot to disarm the motion sensors. It works great, she will vouch for it. It will wake you up also. It came with everything you need and a really good instruction book also. The only hard and fast thing you have to follow is to set up the base station first. My first concern was that the "large" kit to "cover all our doors and windows" didn't actually come with enough sensors to do that, and I couldn't find where to pickup extra sensors for windows. But after trying to set up and realizing that every sensor was going to take a half hour to set up, I didn't want any other sensors. If the criminal happens to figure out which windows didn't have a sensor, it's probably still better than going through all the annoying steps to set up another sensor again. THEN we learned that the sensors go off when there's no reason to, and don't go off when breached, so it was just a total waste of time and energy. I would skip this. ... show more
