Where was this thing in my younger days when I worked at any one of the many menial jobs where a name tag was a required part of the uniform?! LOL. Setup was quick and easy with the clear and concise instructions. I recommend going to the website for the software rather than the included CD. You'll probably get the "404 Page not found" error like I did, but just click on the link to download the latest driver and you'll get the full and up to date latest software package, driver included (which as of the date of this review is version 9.33). Installation was super quick and easy, and I literally had this working in under 5 minutes! While my first test phrase was NSFW, I had a substitute granddaughter friendly message being displayed in under a minute. Software is super easy to use and customization of your message or message is likewise super easy. I feel even the most technology or computer challenged person could easily get this installed and configured with minimal difficulty. Device comes with both a pin (like all good name badges "back in the day") or magnetic attachment so that you don't have to put holes in your clothing. Both worked well in securing this to my shirt. I can easily see this being used for holidays, birthdays, staff meetings (so the boss doesn't forget the peons he's walking on names), replacing the standard static name badges, and more. Between the price, simplicity of setup, and ease of use, I would expect to see these becoming hugely popular in the near future. I would advocate for their use 100% and without reservation. This was a cute little item - I was figuring on using it as a sign, not a nametag, as I work from home, so I don't need a name tag. I'm using it for my work status at home - it's on my door of my office. For that reason, it works well, and it's a cute little gadget. However.. IT CANNOT BE CONFIGURED ON A MAC. PERIOD. Tried to get around that, and couldn't figure it out. Be warned if you have a Mac, you won't be able to configure this. IT will HAVE to be done on a Windows machine. ... show more

The software reminds me of old-time Windows when I was a kid, but it works just fine. Menus are menus. It comes with a mini CD but you can also download the software needed. You can individually assign each LED to create images or text. I had to manually move letters over to make them fit better while I was dinking around the first time, which was surprising easy, though a bit time-consuming. Who doesn't want a leaderboard right on their chest?! It comes with a magnetic back but also has a pin back if you need that instead. The magnets are strong enough to go through thicker hoodie material when I tried it, so shouldn't be a problem for suits and shirts. ... show more

Vendor makes it very clear that this nametag is not mac compatible. However, using a program called Parallels®, you absolutely can make this work with a mac. The 3 inch included cd is simply adorable, who in this day has a player capable of using that? (I do okay, I'm a hoarder of things...) Much easier to go to the website listed on device paperwork and download what you need. The red LED is super bright and does not flicker or falter in scroll mode or in steady mode. 5 characters can fit across the screen, any more than that and "scroll" is the option to display your name or short message. The marquee border is really fun and eye-catching! You will certainly be unique displaying this at an event! Power happens with one of two methods - charge with included micro USB cable then run off included batteries. You can plug this in and display it if you happen to have an outlet nearby or an external power bank. Albeit this is a rather small item, the impact is huge! Bright red LED, clear display and easily legible. It's fun, it's silly, it's practical, it's a sweet little piece of tech sure to draw attention, HOWEVER: At the conclusion of having this BMP Badge app installed on my computer, during the closing of program, my entire system locked up. Rebooted, tried to reopen and now my laptop is frozen. So, based on my experience, I suggest proceeding with caution installing this on your computer. ... show more

This is a neat little item for a low price and it was easy to program what we wanted to display. Of course being a smaller display there is a limit as to how many letters it can show at one time, if it is a longer word (or a sentence) you can have it scroll across the screen left to right or right to left. It has an indicator to let you know when it is fully charged. It has both a pin as well as a magnetic attachment option. This is such a cool little gadget. But for the life of me I can not get the software to work with the badge. I can't even tell if the software recognizes the badge.
