Before I was using Lorex wireless system, they do not have monthly charges like others do. short story about my experience about the Lorex wireless system, 1 doorbell and 3 wireless camera, I have them all hardwired in, so not on battery mode. In my opinion they worked ok, it only recorded only when actionis in the middle of field of view, and cut off shortly after even when action still going on. so I was not able to accurately see what was going on, then one day, all my camera got kicked out my network, I can not get it back up running. So I gave up on them, leaving the doorbell, which the only thing that did not got kicked out. the Google floodlight camera, i installed 3 floodlight with camera, and 1 camera only. installation of floodlight will required some house electrical knowledge, installation process are straight forward, all hardware are included. set up is a breeze also, scan qr code, find product, connect to wifi, basically done. The construction of light and camera is solid, feels heavy, magnet is very strong, I don't think it will moved by wind, rain and snow. Flood light is bright, pictures are clear, night vision on camera only is ok, the ones with floodlight, night recoding would be in color,because the lights are on. it will start recording before and shortly after action enters and leaves the field of view of camera. Example: I got a notification of vehicle is on my camera, in the video actually records even before vehicle approaching to camera's field of view. I like this feature very much. Also audio recording are clear. All recording are cloud base, there is free or paid. Free one only offer 3 hrs of recording then will be erase whatever is before the 3hr time stemp, or you can pay for 30days od recording. The app is straight forward, easy to navigate. Sometimes I experience "video is not available ..." I would just need to wait a little for it to show up. There was a time I need to remove the camera from the wifi network because it's not getting a good connection, I was not able to reconnect, so if that is the case, you will need to reset the camera, there is a button behind it, push in for 15 seconds so it resets, repeat the connection process and I was good. I don't think I see that instructions in the booklet, maybe it's just me over looking things. With the new google app, all my nest thermostat and camera are on the same app that is a plus. The over all experiences on the product itselfe are good, no complaints. I only have to say thr price is set a little high, that is about it. I would recommend if it fits the budget. ... show more

I have actually purchased 5 of these to replace an Arlo hub and cameras which were increasingly buggy and kept dropping WiFi. I have had two indoor wired Nest cameras for a few years now and have been using the 5 new battery powered indoor/outdoor cameras for several weeks. All of these cameras are managed and installed through the Google Home app. Con: you are having to trust Google. Pros: it's made by Google, so every aspect of this works perfectly. Installation is as easy as scanning a QR code with your phone camera and pressing "Add Camera". Disable your VPN for this if you are using one. Mounting is very simple and secure. You will need a 3/32" drill bit and a Phillips head screwdriver bit as well as a cordless drill. These feel rock solid and there is no wobble. Also, it has been very windy and rainy for several days and the cameras are fine. Temperatures have been as low as 34F, again no problems. Have not had >100F weather since it's late Fall. The field of view and image quality is superb. No spherical or chromatic aberration to speak of. In overcast daylight, it was possible to read a license plate from about 15-30 feet away as a freeze frame from the video. The cameras can be individually personalized to notify you (or not) of non-specific motion, or any combination of people, animals or vehicles. The system can also be set to only operate if you leave home through inherent geo-fencing. Comparing this to Arlo, the system is completely stable (which Arlo is not: it's link to a WiFi router only 5 feet away can be tenuous) and the image quality of the cameras is superior in every way. Of note, the Arlo cameras are half the size and can be camouflaged with 3rd party rubber covers in a variety of colors. The Nest cameras are big and white and more conspicuous. ... show more

    • Finally an Outdoor Camera that Works!

We have tried multiple Ring cameras (floodlight, stick-up, and doorbell), Blink cameras, and Defender cameras, etc. and constantly struggled with connectivity issues during install. It took days to get the Ring cameras to connect after tinkering with our network settings. Which would be a nightmare for a non-technical user. The doorbell camera wouldn’t connect at all during install. Even after escalating to the most senior tech, Ring basically told us they couldn’t figure out the interference issue. The same installation issues occurred with the Blink camera out of the box. They were immediately returned and never used. We opted for Defender cameras which required no internet or Bluetooth connection. However, low video resolution and no remote access was the tradeoff. Overtime, the video quality degraded with the camera lasting 1 yr only. Enter Google to the chat! User set up was simple. It took 30 mins to mount and setup the camera outside. The design is sleek and feels like high quality. The video resolution is the best I have seen so far. Not to mention that the Google Home ecosystem has a WIFI Router that can be purchased if connectivity issues do occur. Also ensuring that the user does not need to reduce network security to connect the camera. The camera is compatible with WIFI 6. Why should a user reduce security to have security?
