Make sure the blade will stay intact when used for heavy gardening tasks. On the other side is a sharp blade that easily cuts through vegetables, ropes, twigs, and more.

  • Comfortable handle: The handle of this hori hori garden knife is made of TRP, ergonomic grip design, comfortable and non-slip. The top of the handle is designed with a hole, which can be hung for easy storage.

  • Dig Dig Knife!
Color: Green
I've collected a fair number of hori-horis over the years, and when I was a landscaper I used mine that I brought to the job with me nearly every workday. These are definitely a worthwhile tool for any gardener, landscaper, or anyone who works in the dirt. This particular hori-hori though, I'm a bit unsure about. It's not that there's anything particularly wrong with it that I can see, it's just that it's hard to see if there's anything particularly wrong with it, so to speak. For one thing, this is supposed to be a stainless steel blade, right? Then why did it come oiled? I know some stainless steel leans more towards rust-resistant rather than rust-proof, so I suppose it could be that. It just makes me a little suspicious is all. For another thing, while the rubber and plastic handle is by all means quite comfortable (and the cross-guard is nice for keeping your hand from accidentally sliding up the handle on to the blade), it also makes it impossible to see for certain whether the tang is full or not. The center of gravity for this knife is SIMILAR to some of my other hori-horis that do have full tangs, so it's possible this one does too- or the handle material could be heavier than the wood handles on my other knives. Like I said, it's just hard to tell for sure. A full tang is pretty nice to have if you intend to do a lot of prying with this knife, so it would have been nice for the seller to let us know in the description. Finally, there's the sheath. The clasp/strap that holds the knife in is sewn all the way through the belt loop, meaning the more you wear this on your belt, the more strain will be put on the thread holding the clasp on, which in turn holds your knife in place. It also leaves you with less room for a broad tool belt than you otherwise would have. This is simple design flaw that, while fixable if you know how to sew (or know a willing person who does) as the threads begin to wear, is also avoidable. It may not be a big deal if you don't wear it every day, so it may not be a major concern for you. But enough of this negative speculation. On the plus side this knife APPEARS and FEELS fairly solid to the touch, it has a lanyard hole in the handle for those who like that, it has a respectably thick blade marked with a ruler, and the serrations are decently pointy. I also like how the clasp is a snap button rather than velcro- snaps are far more durable than velcro in my experience. The belt loop of the sheath, despite the aforementioned flaw, still has a fair amount of room for a belt; most standard tool belts should fit alright. Overall this appears to be a decent hori-hori. Possibly not top-of-the-line, but certainly functional for most applications. Thanks! ... show more

  • Heavy duty and solid for a decent price
Color: Green
I see this thing being very useful this summer on camping and travel trips. This is a big and solid garden knife. It has a good weight to it and feels like it will put in the work required of digging/shaping, cutting the trees and plants and ground. I like this and at $19.99 it seems reasonable just from holding this knife in your hands and it has a sheath specially designed for it. 4 stars ... show more

  • Good for weeding, planting, and fertilizing
Color: Green
I have clay soil and St. Augustine grass ("crabgrass") and other weeds that invade my vegetable garden. With this one tool I can slice off and uproot weeds. I can spear in and soften the soil. I can plant seedlings to a uniform depth. And I can pretend this is a scoop and eyeball an amount of fertilizer to scatter around and work into the soil. I have other tools to help me do all these things, but now I'm able to carry just one tool as I putter around and do it all. This makes a bigger difference than I originally anticipated. Very convenient and useful. One edge is serrated. Maybe they thought this could work as a saw to cut branches. I have other tools that work better for this. I find this edge also helps to dispatch weeds, and when trying to cut through the clay soil. When I'm done I wash this off so nothing cakes on. They say this is stainless, but it can rust anyway so I make sure it is dry before I put it away in its included protective sheath. One last note: you are reading a Vine review, which means this product was sent to me without my having to pay for it. I never believed Vine reviews, I felt people would say anything to get free stuff. The Vine program, at least for me, is a little different: I only get what I go out of my way to ask for, and everything I get is reported as income to me, so I'll have to pay income taxes at what will probably be reported as list price. I may actually lose on the deal. But I wanted this product as soon as I saw it, I didn't know it existed before I saw it available for review, and, hopefully, my experience has been a help to you. ... show more

  • As good as I'd hoped it would be! My new favorite garden tool!
Color: Pink
I am late getting to my garden this year, which means this Workpro Hori Hori knife has had to wait for me to give it a thorough testing. I am a hobby gardener, but my Master Gardener friends have told me about how great Hori Hori knives are for years, so I leapt at the chance to put this Workpro onel through its paces. Having now dug, chopped roots, measured the depth of holes for planting, etc., I can finally report that this garden knife IS THE BOMB! What a super tool! Who needs a trowel and a weeder when this Hori Hori knife does it all? It makes gardening much easier, which makes gardening even more fun! Yay—how I love good tools that get the job done! Here's to the Hori Hori! ... show more

Arrived with a weird grease/oil that condensed into a brown goo on the blade.

  • Thought this was going to feel like cheap plastic but ...
Color: Pink
I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and it had some real weight to it and some decent sharpness to it as well. This is incredibly well made. Even the little sheath for it is well made and sturdy. One side of it is smooth and sharp and the other is serrated and sharp. The measurement part is up to 6" and there is some wiggle room to make it 7". So far I can see no rusting or any damage. This is a really solid little gardening blade. I can't think of anything negative to say. Well worth the price. This could be a great addition to a gardening gift basket for someone. ... show more
