  • Wonderful! Doesn't Aggravate My Asthma
Note: I've uploaded two pictures to help answer what seem to be common questions about this product. The first picture shows that the bottle has a valve, so the oil doesn't pour out too fast. The second picture clears up the ambiguity on this product page about the product being "100% oil". The bottle itself is labeled as containing "100% pure lavender oil". __________________________________________ In pursuit of natural products that won't exacerbate my worsening asthma, I recently discovered Woolzies dryer balls to replace dryer sheets, and also came upon Woolzies essential oils. I am thrilled with both products--I just wish they offered a greater variety of scents, as lavender is the only one of their current offerings that my family and I are interested in. This has been a perfect replacement to the Downy Unstopables my parents were using, which recently began triggering respiratory problems for me. There are three concerns other reviewers mentioned that I want to address, as I was hesitant to purchase the Woolzies Essential Oil after reading some of the negative reviews. First, I noted that some reviewers love the scent, while others hate it, describing it as having a "chemical" odor. When I opened the bottle, the scent was so pungent that it didn't even seem like lavender to me, but rather more like eucalyptus. My mother, though, I think gave a spot-on description of it: she described it as smelling "medicinal". We gave it a try in spite of that, and now love it. After using it a few times, I noticed the bottle has instructions that indicate you aren't supposed to add the oil until after the clothing is already dry, stating you should add it during the fluff cycle because heat breaks down essential oils. I'm glad I didn't notice those instructions, as I assume it's the full dry cycle responsible for transforming the overpowering, medicinal smell into a subtle, delicious scent. Second, I read one review which complained that the bottle pours out too readily, rather than dispensing one drop at a time. Having read that, I didn't expect there to be any covering over the mouth of the bottle--but there is, and I haven't had any problem with too much pouring out. Just to be on the safe side, what I do is take a wool dryer ball, press it to the mouth of the bottle, then briefly invert the bottle--the same way one might place a fingertip over a vial of perfume and quickly invert it to dispense a drop of fragrance. Third, I recall one review mentioned that this oil stains wool dryer balls. We keep ours in a decorative basket atop the dryer, so I'm glad I haven't found that to be the case. Rather, after adding the oil, it looks like a drop of water was added to the wool; after the dry cycle, there's no trace of it. Bottom line: I highly recommend Woolzies Lavender Essential Oil to anyone who doesn't mind their laundry room being filled with an overpowering scent at the start of the dry cycle. By the end of it, the room and your laundry will have a wonderful, subtle fragrance with fairly decent staying power. ... show more

  • Add a little calming scent to the dryer balls
I use wool dryer balls (love them, they are fabulous and cannot be more highly recommended) to not use dryer sheets and have our clothes dry faster. I bought this essential oil to add to the balls to create a calming scent to our laundry as I have migraines and cannot be around some scents. I add a few drops to one ball and our laundry comes out with a faint amount of lavender scent which lasts for several days and is quite calming. I also only "recharge" the lavender on the balls when I notice there is no longer any lavender scent, which is maybe every tenth load or so. This essential oil WILL leave your wool balls with a spot where you put the essential oil onto the ball, but I just then know which one had it and recharge that one. ... show more

  • Good stuff
I ordered this to help give a nice scent to my CPAP air feed. Just placed a dab on a cotton ball near the air inlet port (not touching the case nor filter) and it works fine to scent the mask nicely. Getting a drop out can sometimes be hit or miss, but I learned to keep the cotton ball on the opening and it dispenses after a few inversions. It is strong, but not overpowering, smelling close to the live version of the plant growing in the garden. The aromatherapy guides say this is good for relaxing and falling asleep. Being a natural skeptic (and an over educated scientist), I am not sure I completely accept the claims, but it is outside my area of expertise, and it does not appear to hurt my sleep any. Regardless, I don't have issues with falling asleep, as my wife will attest, so I cannot really be an evaluator of that claim. It smells good and beats smelling my own breath in the morning! And it makes the room smell nice, which is somewhat relaxing. Recommended. ... show more

  • Pleased with product
I have purchased YL essential oils in the past and purposely saved my empty Lavender bottle to compare scents. The Woolzies oil was a little, but not significantly so, different and I did not find it unpleasant or chemical in any way. I notice that the scent of the Woolzies does not seem to last as long in my diffuser as the YL, and that is my sole purpose in purchasing the oil. I purchased 2 oils when I bought this one and they each came from a different location. Both bottles arrived packed in oversize boxes with adequate protection inside. I immediately detected the Lavender scent before opening the box, where I discovered that oil had leaked/seeped out. The other bottle of oil arrived with a plastic over-wrap over the lid and did not leak. Aside from that, I have been pleased with the product and did not feel a need to contact the company in regards to the packaging. ... show more

  • Good Vibes Only
Among other uses, lavender can be effective against insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, and depression. I used to apply lavender to my skin, but within the last month, or so, I began dabbing a round circle of this Woolzies Lavender Oil on the edges of my pillowcase just before bed. I've experienced less insomnia since I began using lavender. (I also find running an audio book of "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau all night long helps me to get to sleep and helps me get back to sleep after waking up during the night. I hope this "tip" helps any insomniacs -- and I understand there are many of us -- get relief from sleepless nights.) I've tried another lavender oil in addition to Woolzies. I like them both. They both smell heavenly and I find that both products promote relaxation. For most of my life, I've had an adversarial relationship with bedtime. Now I look forward to it. Woolzies bottle has the same plastic insert in the top as the other lavender oil I bought. This allows the user to pour out a drop of oil without wasting any -- you don't need too much since one good sized drop provides significant fragrance. ... show more
