On examination, it was found that it had melted around the back of the oscillator motor. It is so tiny it's incredible. I was thinking of all the camping I have done and all the camping shows I watch on YouTube and NO ONE uses a unit this small. No one. The sent me something the size of a 5 1/4" speaker. No exaggeration. I couldn't understand what you'd use it for. You can't put a stove like that in a tent. So small areas are out. Placing this on top of something large would be akin to useless. Don't get me wrong, it WILL push some hot air around, just not enough. It's plainly too small and the fan blade shape and size does it no favors. Even at the price i would look for a larger unit that would make more sense in the situation you'd use one of these in. The media could not be loaded. Fan works great. It is late spring and way too hot for me to start up the wood stove so I put this fan on the electric cooktop to test it out. This little fan is very quiet and puts out a surprising amount of air flow for its size. It started running real fast around 450 to 500 degrees which is what I usually keep my wood burning stove temperature at during the winter. The fan kept running for a bit even after I removed it from the hot cooktop surface which would indicate this is efficient and well made. I love that I will now have some free air circulation during the winters without using any electricity. My wood burning stove came with a plug in fan mounted to the back, but it is so noisy that I never used it. This fan also comes with a nice magnetic surface mount thermometer. Both the fan and the thermometer have a thin wire handle for moving when hot but I would still use gloves if I ever had to move them. ... show more

This product is a metallic fan with a wide base and a top hook for hanging. There is some very minimal wiring inside the skeletonized frame but other than that the product is simply just the mounted fan blade. This product begins to move when it is placed on top of a very hot environment. It requires direct, high level heat to start turning. You can't just put this above your fireplace and expect it to start moving. To practice it you could put it on a pan on your stove, but otherwise it is mainly designed for wooden stoves, where the top is hot enough to cook on. When it is exposed to this level of heat it starts turning and provides a little warm breeze from your stoves heat. I have tested this product on a rocket stove as well as on a empty cast iron pan on the stove top. It is very responsive and will turn indefinitely as long as the heat continues to cause the reaction. Fans like this are decorative, a unique conversation piece, and can also provide great circulation in incredibly cold environments. If you have any kind of wood burning stove that has a hot upper surface, I highly recommend at least one of these, probably two so that you can face the fans in different directions.
