This is a good basic set of cutters for the four most common tool handles. I got these to test on my EWT handles. The performance of the 12mm round cutter is similar to the original EWT US made cutters, but with a bit less smooth finish. This cutter is thicker than the EWT cutter, neither an advantage or disadvantage. The 11mm square is listed as radiused, but is actually a straight cutter. The 2" radiused square roughing cutters will cut smooth enough to practically leave a finish quality cut. The straight square cutters such as are actually in this set leave some tear out. For that reason, I don't care much for this cutter. It doesn't cut any faster than an actually radiused square cutter, but doesn't work as well for a final smoothing cut. If that is important, look for the square cutters with a 2" radius. The diamond sharp tipped cutter is like the other Chinese made diamond shaped cutter I recently got. It has a far steeper angle than the original EWT US made cutter. This cutter is more likely to chip than the US made cutter, but also costs about 1/8 the price in this kit. Overall, this set is a good deal, just not perfect, and the cut with the round and square cutters is not quite as smooth as the original Easy Wood Tools cutters. The screws that come with the cutters do not fit my EWT medium length bit holders. I'm sure they fit other bit handles. I got these tips because I do plenty of woodturning with both carbide-tipped and traditional chisels. These tips are priced very nicely and are tough to pass up. In the kit there are the following: - 2 cutters for a simple rougher - 2 cutters for a simple hollower - 2 cutters for a 55-degree detailer - 2 cutters for a swan-neck hollower - 6 star-head screws These fit standard tool sets are designed to accept replaceable carbide tips. ... show more

They are the same good quality as the cased set, and I'm quite pleased with the whole set at a decent price. These are some pretty nice inserts. But I guess I have to be more careful when reading because I could have sworn this was supposed to come with handles. Anyhow, I took these over to a buddy's place who has a set of handles these would fit. We played around making some cuts on his wood lathe for a couple hours and both of us were rather happy with the way these performed in everything from Southern Yellow Pine to some of the hardest Hickory you will ever come across. (along with being up to our ankles in wood chips!) NO chipping and still sharp after some abusive handling. And while these are pretty sharp for carbide and leave a fairly fine finish, there is still a place for good old, finely honed, high carbon steel. Still, they do seem to have a place in both of our toolboxes because they will do most of the required cutting and, they will definitely save on tool honing time. ... show more
