  • Great basic information on Wood Fire Pizzas and Other Treats
I liked the basic introduction, the discussion of wood, the basics of a pizza oven and so on. I think that it was a bit disappointing that the cookbook has so many "fancy" recipes that require odd ingredients and so on. I much would have preferred a straight-forward "meat and potato's" book as opposed to fancy Euro style meals and so on. It's got some good basic recipes, and some nice Pizza's, but at least 50% of the recipes are exotic. ... show more

  • Looks good to a true beginner...
I am nearing completion of a brick wood-fired oven in our back yard. This is the first cookbook I have ordered - although I plan to order others. When I received it, my wife spent a great deal of time reading through it. So several days passed before I was able to review. It is rather nicely laid out - with some recipes that are rather simple and some a little complex. It really seems like there is something for everyone. There are also guidelines on timing the different tasks for a gathering - which I think could be very useful. There is also plenty of content to inspire my imagination. I'm really looking forward to finishing my oven and trying some of these recipes. I commit to updating this review after actually making some of these recipes in our new oven. UPDATE: After using this book and our wood-fired oven for 2.5 years now, I had to be reminded to come back and update this review by the comment below. So yes, this book is fantastic....chock-full of useful information. It doesn't answer every question but it answers many of them. The recipes are great - we have tried many of them - and have also developed our own variations, of course. We do have other books but none of the others are wood-fired oven specific - and therefore not as useful. And after using the oven now for a couple of years, we are well past the learning curve (which this book really helped with), but even so, I am glad to have this book - and keep it in our kitchen full-time. ... show more

  • Best cookbook I've ever owned
We got this cookbook for recipes to cook in our wood fired oven but after looking it over I decided to try on my conventional stove. All of the recipes I've tried so far are over the top fantastic! I own several French and Italian cookbooks and this is the best of all. You will not regret purchasing

  • This is a steal! It's contains beautiful photos and doable recipes.
We have a wood fired oven and a couple of books purchased from Amazon.com based on good reviews. This particular book, however, was purchased without any prior review and it simply is the best purchase of all the wood-fired oven recipe books we've purchased. 70 recipes doesn't seem like a lot. However, the recipes seem doable as the ingredients are not so exotic and we can readily buy them at local stores. The photography is simply beautiful. I'm speaking as a former part-time photographer and someone who appreciate good photography. The book contains more than just recipes. It has historical information and info on wood-fired ovens. If you are new owner of wood-fired oven and wonder what to cook so that you don't waste a lot of residual heat after making your pizzas, this book probably would be of help with its incredibly helpful preparation suggestions (with timelines) for different types of meals. At this price, this book is a steal! As frugal as we are, we'd be happy to pay more for this book! Kudos to the authors and publisher!! ... show more

  • Great recipes and instruction with ferric photos!
Liked it all! I salivated looking at the book. Great recipes and accompanying photos. Instructions were clear and concise. Purchased at a good price for the product. A birthday gift for my brother-in-law, who is building a pizza oven from scratch. This will make his and anyone else’s day!!!

  • Too Fussy!
Personally , the recipes were too fussy for an outside oven! I will order the Cookbook that focuses on just pizzas.
