This is a great mixer for its intended purpose. I tried it with protein powder and milk initially to test results. I poured the milk first then added the powder. Gave it a couple pulls and shook it to grab the powder that floated to the top and then a couple more pulls. It blended well with no clumping. I then added 5 fresh strawberries and gave it a few pulls. There was obviously more resistance but was easier as the strawberries broke down. It did a fairly good job chopping as all the strawberries fit through the mouth piece. Cleaning was pretty easy. Put water in and covered with a few shakes and pulls. Disassembled and hand washed. There were no hard to reach places a sponge couldn’t get into. I like the fact that it is not battery operated and easy to clean. It is very portable and practical for on the go purposes. It has a handle which is a plus for me because I tend to clip it with a carabiner on my belt loop at times. I only have a few concerns. The pulling mechanism will get wet and may be a longevity issue. I also believe that the plastic body could be a little thicker. Overall it’s something I’d use regularly. ... show more

This contraption is fairly simply constructed, and the blades look small and low, so I didn't think it would work very well, but I was wrong. It worked fantastically! I made a milkshake with malt powder. In my traditional blender, the malt powder tends to ball up and stick to the sides, but in this one, there was much less of that. Sure, there were a few little globs stuck, and a glob or two when I drank it, but the shake was pretty smooth overall. I think the trick is to put the liquids in first and then dump any powder on the liquid. In my first try at blending, I gave the string a hesitant yank, just to see what it would do. When that seemed successful, I gave it about six more slow pulls. When I tried to pour, there were still some globs of ice cream, so I got more vigorous with my pulls. I think it only took eight vigorous pulls before my shake was perfectly blended. To clean, I rinsed, then blended some water in there, and it was easy-peasy. This is going right into my essentials cabinet, and I love the fact that I don't have to plug it in or worry about needing to charge it. The only worry I have is about how long the pulling mechanism will work since I've had pullstring toys where the mechanism wore out, but for now, while it's brand new, it works great. ... show more

I really thought this cup would be a gimmick. I looked at it and thought no way would it be able to mix in powder effectively. But it does! I dump in the powder first then top it off with water. A couple pulls of the lawnmower cord and the thing mixes! Is it flawless? No. There’s still a few bits floating around. Is it really good? Yes. This thing has consistently mixed better than I’ve expected. So far it’s been easy to clean too. I thought there would be powder stuck in the bottom (there’s like a channel) but a few shakes with water and it comes right out. There’s definitely a fun factor with this too; I feel like I’m getting a mini workout mixing my protein shakes. When you pull the cord, it is a bit loud, so if you’re using this at the office, expect to get weird looks. ... show more

I’m a skeptic and I got the Wonder Core Hurricup out of curiosity. I couldn’t find any reviews online so I went in blind and took one for the team! Y’all, it works so well! I forgot to take a photo immediately after preparation, and it dawned on me after I drank most of my shake — I still think the attached photo tells an accurate story. I’m surprised that it actually works, and it works very well! It’s so easy to clean, too, and the blades aren’t sharp at tall. The pull-tab mixing cord does produce a sound that I jokingly said is like a pterodactyl, but it’s not obnoxious. The sound is expected, though, as you un/wind the mixing mechanism via the pull-tab. My protein shake was decently mixed after three pulls, but I completed a total of five pulls for my own amusement and astonishment. I’m pleasantly surprised! ... show more

My husband likes to make fancy coffees every day, but right off the bat he ran into a problem with his coffee being too hot for this mixer. So he cooled it down a little and then it worked acceptably, with a mix of things like melted chocolate, MCT oil, collagen, etc. It’s loud but not as loud as an electrical blender. For me, this doesn’t work at all because I like to make very thick protein shakes, and it just doesn’t have the power to blend ice like I need it blended to be smooth enough. So, it’s an OK thing, but then I looked at the price. Holy moly, $70 for a marginally useful hand blender is an insanely high price. EVEN though you can take it camping, I don’t believe it’ll do a whole lot more than the freebie shaker cup you can get at almost any health food store. ... show more

This is a good mixer for when you are on the go and maybe don't have access to power. Since you have to actually "pull a string on a ring" to engage the mix blades, I wouldn't call it a blender or try to use it as one. Good for mixing up protein powders or any simple mix up.
