I needed a doorbell and this owl doorbell is a cutie. I got the black 1+1. It comes with one receiver and one transmitter. It comes with batteries already in the transmitter. Also included are screws, back plate, and adhesive double-sided tape. The transmitter is the smaller owl that is actually the doorbell. The larger one is the receiver. This piece plugs into the wall inside. The transmitter can be attached to the surface in 2 ways. You can either screw it into the surface or use the double-sided tape. Since I'm using this as a temporary doorbell, I opted for the tape. I live in a very hot and humid area. The doorbell seems to do just fine so far. Since I attached the doorbell using the tape, it took all of 5 minutes from box to wall. A couple of those minutes were spent playing around with all the different chime selections. I feel there was a missed opportunity with the chimes. There's no owl chime! That would have been perfect. I'm not too impressed with how the chimes sound, but, it's fun regardless. When the doorbell is pushed the lights on both pieces light up. The black color makes it hard to see the details and the button to press for the doorbell. It might be easier to see on a white one. The media could not be loaded. I like the idea and think the owls are really adorable, the transmitter worked throughout my bungalow and when placed outside. All you need to attach the doorbell outside is included and the base plugs into any standard outlet. I did not mount this yet because I'm unsure of how I will be using it. There are plenty of tones to choose from and the sound volume is acceptable but if you're upstairs or dogs are barking or your in the backyard, you are not likely to hear this unless it's plugged in nearby. Once unplugged, it does remember the last ringtone and volume you set. The item promises up to 32 transmitters can be added to one or several receivers, which seems a bit overkill for something that has no video monitoring or chat feature. Included instructions are fairly straight forward. The caveat here for me is because the base must be plugged into an outlet, should the power ever go out, you'll have no doorbell. Eyes flash on both the doorbell and the base when rung. However, it is not throwing light around the room, so if the base is not in your eyeline and is set to mute, you aren't likely to see it flashing. I think ultimately this would be super cute in a little outdoor office or child's clubhouse, for when a young one is Ill and requests a parent come check on them or in a child's room and a parent calls on them. Would be great for holidays like Halloween. But personally, not a year round doorbell for me. ... show more

I’ve collected owls for as long as I can remember. When trying to find a small-ish wireless doorbell, I came across this adorable little owl. It arrived in excellent time, and neatly packaged. Installation was very simple, as the base plugs into the outlet, while a bit large, it’s nothing major, and I can still use the other plugs. The adhesion on the doorbell, itself, is great, sticking firmly with initial placement. I can’t speak to removal, as I haven’t tried such. The doorbell is loud, without being too loud to startle anyone inside the house.. Except the dog.. but he’s scared of his own shadow /: I live in a larger apartment, and I can hear it throughout the house, without an issue, so it has good range. I can’t speak to battery life, as I’ve never had to change it thus far. All in all, very happy with my purchase of this adorable little owl. ... show more

My last wireless doorbell died and I wanted to upgrade the look. I stumbled upon this owl set - and instantly knew it was the right choice. Guest can now hit the owl and I get a notification inside. I have dogs that love to bark at the doorbell sound. I was thrilled that I could get a doorbell that had a non-standard sound, which has helped with the barking. They still bark because someone is at the door, but not as much as when the doorbell goes off. It's the little things. I used the adhesive tape to mount the transmitter. It took about 2 min to do. I could have screwed it, too - but my siding is alluminium and I didn't want to puncture it. The other side plug into a wall outlet. The novelty factor alone is worth getting. ... show more
