  • A great buy

Calibrate heat coming through the vent in my house

  • Very Good, Accurate, Quick-Reading Product
Color: Black
I got these for use with my flying radio control models. For this use, they work excellently. They give a quick up to the minute site-specific windspeed and temperature that is more than accurate enough for this use. The anemometer is highly reactive and changes readouts quickly when held in a different direction from the wind to give accurate, up-to-the-minute crosswind components and headwind velocities. This would be handy for many other operations, including sports where objects fly through the air, kite flying, aviation, model rocketry, and more. The only negative I have is that the averaging function does not give the velocity over a prior time period but begins working when the button is pressed and then averages from there forward while the button is held. Overall, I really like this anemometer and would definitely get it again. ... show more

  • Not terribly accurate
Color: Black
I've used better (and more expensive) anemometers and this one consistently read lower than what they indicated. It took more of a breeze to get the blade going. Since this one is priced lower, perhaps I shouldn't be expecting more.

  • Very effective for general and comparison measurements.
Color: Black
It does a very good job for a lower cost meter. This is certainly not a calibrated laboratory instrument and I did not expect it to perform as one. We have a couple of anemometers for general purpose use/comparison measurements and this one is more sensitive than the other two we use. It is sensitive enough to read intake airspeed on a 25"x30" plenum (see example photo) and of course it works very well on exhaust ducts. Measures wind speed outdoors as well. The resolution is good enough to easily distinguish between a MERV 3 and MERV 5 filter on an HVAC intake. As previously mentioned, this meter is great for comparison use and gives repeatable results. For our purposes it is a very useful tool that allows us to visualize airflow and airflow patterns in HVAC and refrigeration installations. Whether Km/hr, ft/min or MPH - the units/scales on this meter allow a multitude of useful measurements to be obtained for general analysis. I can also mount this meter on it's 1/4-20 threaded socket to a tripod for extended measurement periods where we are recording a maximum or minimum flow as such function is a provision on this meter. I like the small size and ease of use. It's built solid, the measurements show repeatability and the menu options are very basic and easy to use. Great for our purposes - Two thumbs up! ... show more

  • Excellent Meter with Lots of Options
Color: Black
I have never owned an Anemometer (wind meter) before so I don't have anything to compare it to, nor do I have a specific use for one. Inside the box you will find the anemometer with a detachable lanyard, a zippered soft case, a 9v battery and instructions. The battery door is fastened with a phillips head screw. I installed the battery and attempted to power the unit on with no success. I tested the battery and it was dead. The brand new battery was dead on arrival so I installed a new one and it powered up. On the LCD screen the meter displays air temperature and wind speed. The display is backlit with the press of a button and it also features selectable scales for wind speed and temperature. Wind speed options are m/s, ft/min, knots, km/hr, mph, °C/°F and Beaufort scale. Temperature is selectable in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. The instructions are very detailed how to change settings. The meter seems to work well and I assume it is accurate as I have nothing to compare to. The build quality is nice and the unit feels good in hand. The dead battery was annoying but not the actual products fault so I will not deduct any stars for that. I will rate this anemometer at 5 stars. ... show more

  • Very Accurate!
Color: Black
I needed this to do some testing of both fans and wind testing. Tested this next to a friend's $700 Anemometer. Both of our Anemometers had the same data. This unit is very accurate and comes in a nice padded case. I highly recommend this unit!
