  • Not perfect, but great value for the money
So, first of all, this thing is a great value for the money (I paid around a hundred bucks). I didn't quite realize how big this things was. It's a beast. Downside?....the surface texture of the jaws is very jagged and irregular. They mesh together well when the jaws are closed, but the jaw surface itself is not flat and smooth. Doesn't look like the jaws in the seller's picture. I solved this by buying the Ion magnetic padded jaws. Works very well. Second thing....the jaws on the left hand side don't align precisely (see picture). Would probably bother me if I didn't have them covered with the padded jaw set. Without the pads this thing would grip like nobody's business, but would also leave marks on your work. If you want this rig to win a beauty contest, forget it. But functionally it seems to work great. I tightened it down to my work bench and was worried the casing might crack, but no problem at all. Seems very sturdy and strong. I prefer "made in America", but didn't have $400 to spend on a vise. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others. ... show more

  • My Wilton vise damaged in shipment LOL
Seriously my new vise was damaged in shipment. Sent all by itself in original packaging for the store shelf. 45 lb vise in a not so sturdy cardboard box. I know it’s heavy, but imagine how badly manhandled to bend the main handle/crank like that. Unusable as bend won’t allow handle thru pilot shaft easily. Either Wilton is using lousy steel in the handles or someone dropped this off a building. Probably both. Talked to Wilton tech support. Very kind lady. I suggested send me a new handle, I’ll replace myself. But she said that can’t be done so 50 lb vise has to be returned and replaced due to bent handle in shipping. gezzzzzzzz! ... show more

  • Lousy customer service
I purchased this vise last summer and left it in a box because I had no where to mount it. I recently acquired a workbench suitable for mounting it and took the vise out of the box to start that process, discovered that one of the carriage bolts that locks the swivel action on the vise had snapped off clean at the head likely during shipping but maybe even during final assembly at the factory in China. I contacted customer support and they couldn't even send me a measly bolt as a replacement part, they wanted me to pack up the entire vise and send it in as a warranty claim. By the way, if anyone here needs a replacement bolt for the swivel lock, it's a 1-1/4" long (measured from the square boss to the end of the threads), 1/2" x 13 carriage bolt, I would buy grade 5 or even grade 8 given how weak these carriage bolts tend to be. When you mount the vise, use 1/2" bolts as that's the best/most secure fit for the mounting holes provided. ... show more

  • Great Vise BUT.......READ BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!
This is an awesome vice BUT when the box came, I lifted it off the ground and it was super heavy! I opened the box and this is not a small vice! This thing is HUGE and super heavy duty. It has two pounding surface areas which is awesome but I thought I was getting a standard size vice for my shop BUT it arrived and it was huge! Maybe the Amazon ad said the physical dimensions BUT this thing surprised the heck out of me because it is literally twice as big as the regular sized vices. Quality is excellent, color is great, it opens and closes awesome, and is a great vice if you need a monster vice for your shop or garage! ... show more

  • Horrible Vise
Don't let the fact that this vise is relatively heavy and looks heavy duty fool you. The locking base is a joke. You can crank down the two tightening points as tight as you can get them, and the vice still turns very easily. I'm very disappointed with this vise and cannot recommend it.

  • Witon 11106 6inch bench vice
I don't post reviews much. But being a retired Tool & Die maker & after reading some of the bad reviews I felt the need. This is not a Harbor Frieght clone as some others have said.It is 5 ib,s heavyer made of steel, not cast iron.It has a life time guaranty, not 90 days. It is a med work vice not a heavy duty as the more $ ones are.But for 90% of the job,s it is a great vice. Jim Fitzgibbon ... show more

  • I paid more but still worth it
I'm a little butthurt because a couple weeks after I bought it the price has suddenly dropped almost $20. I could have waited a bit and saved some money. I paid like $150 for this thing, but I still think it's totally worth it at that price. I've banged on the anvil and it didn't even make a mark. I've done some cold chiseling on metal clamped in the jaws and the jaws still look brand new. The only real complaint I have is that I saw a bit of rust on the back end of the sleeve the main screw threads into, under the U-channel. It almost looks like I received a used/old one that they repainted imperfectly and I just happened to notice the one little rusty spot still showing through. A lot of the paint is flaking off a little too easily it seems like also. But even if it is a little rusty and used underneath, you can barely tell, and since it has steel instead of just iron it is probably still so strong that it doesn't matter. It is stronger than the table I have it mounted to. ... show more

  • Nice!
I wasn't expecting something as solid as I got! The whole unit swivels around 100 degrees, which has been incredibly useful for sanding and angle grinding. The anvil surface is sturdy enough to pean rivets on, and the jaws are plenty wide for most projects. I drilled a couple holes in some angle iron and attached it to the jaw for a longer jaw width. I needed wider jaws for bending long tin sheets, but I haven't needed it for anything else. The stock jaws have two sets of grooves on one side which are useful for holding rods upright in without damaging them. I bolted mine to my work bench with some washers and two inch 5/16th bolts, but I probably could have gone a couple of sizes larger. Overall very pleased with this buy. It's not junk, and it's not $400. ... show more
