If you have 98-99 Nissan frontier this is the best option to fix the dreaded dead speedo issue. The speedo works fine below 45 but something happens over it, and it starts to read fast at 65 it was reading in the 70s. Rpm gauge is a little laggy but works fine. I was struggling with the clock settings it seems to only be in 30 min increments so I hope you are like me a happened to be doing this right time. I could not figure out if it can change from 24 hour to 12-hour clock but that's not a big deal to me as I can read both fine. The engine code check works great and is super easy I love that. Plus, the ability to clear code makes checking if repairs fixed the issue so much easier. I will do some test on the fuel consumption tracker. All in all, day 1 I'm pretty happy with this. For the price this is the best bang for your buck fix for the cluster issues with 98-99 Frontiers. I will make update in the future if anything happens, or it's been a year. ... show more

    • Provides very useful information on car performance
This is a great device and I like it a lot. I would have given it 5 starts except for a couple of issues that I think may be the reason why this is shown as "frequently returned". I think most users did not fiddle with it enough to make it work really well. I admit, my interest was perhaps a bit different from others so I was motivated to make it work. Here are the issues: 1. The "users manual" is almost useless. It is written by a non-native English speaker and is very cumbersome - if you can read it at all. It has very tiny text so you need a magnifying glass to read it. 2. The clock function is designed for international use so only shows 24-hour time values (14:30 = 2:30 PM) 3. Setting the clock is confusing unless you realize that it uses GPS time which does not know the loca time zone. You cannot set the time exactly. You can only set it within 30 minutes and then the GPS will figure out the time zone. 4. My car does not have a tachometer, compass or any engine instrumentation (it is a KIA pug-in hybrid) so I needed this to provide information from the OBD2 plug (it has a direct, wired plug-in - not bluetooth - which makes it much easier to use. Also, it does have the ability to show error codes and to clear the codes if needed so this is a plus. For things not in OBD2 (is has no magnetometer), it uses the GPS which is a great combination. It will also work in GPS mode only if you don't need the engine instrumentation. 5. The ad says it will not work with a plug-in hybrid (I didn't notice that) or on trucks, etc. It seems to work with anything with an OBD2 port - even pre 2009. I have a 2006 and 2008 Ford truck and it works great on both of those. 6. I love the shape and the suction cup mount. I put it in the very upper-left corner of the windshield where it is out of the field of view for driving but close enough to read even the small fonts. 6. However, it took a lot of fiddling to make it work with my KIA but it was worth the effort. The instructions for auto turn-on and turn-off (by time or voltage) still do not make sense to me but by continuing to tweak the values, I was able to make it work and now it does everything I wanted. ... show more

    • Drained my car battery over the weekend.
It was very bright! It seemed to work well for what it was and the low price is fair, but it drained my battery in 2 days causing me to be late for work on a Monday morning. 1 star, do not buy unless you want a very bright screen and plan to disconnect it every time you park.

The media could not be loaded. This little thing is awesome and exactly what I wanted. Easy to read, lots of options, lots of data to choose from. Easy to install with mounting options. Plug and play, no special tools or programming! I got this in my 2007 avalanche mostly for a coolant temp digital readout, the factory gauge in most vehicles are not exactly accurate especially if you modify the coolant system, I have a over sized radiator and lower temp thermostat than stock so this gives me real time PCM temperature readings! Also nice to have the speedometer up where I dont have to look down at the cluster. Loving it so far, highly recommend. ... show more
