This is a review for: OPONL Black Ceiling Fan with Light 52inch, Low Profile, Remote Control, Downrod Mount UPDATE: This is a 1 month refresh of the review. I'm still quite happy with this fan. The lighting is actually much stronger than I described. The fan is still super quiet and impressively powerful. We still use a lot of the features, so they're not just gimmicks. One new downside: The remote isn't great. it has no lit buttons and is hard to use in the dark. However, there is a phone app, which solves this! I didn't even know about it. It is a bit tricky to install because there are scant instructions. The trick is that your fan/light will be in pairing mode for 5 seconds after being turned on at the wall switch, and that is when you need to attempt pairing in the app. I chose not to try the Android install because I didn't trust the sideload, but they have a legit approved Apple store app that you can use. __ Overall this is a great fan and lamp. I got the black & wood. The fan blades seem to be hand carved. So there is some slight variation between blades, but beautiful craftsmanship and nice aesthetic. The fan surprisingly light weight and has a lot of features. Assembly of the fan was easy, but there are a lot of steps. Instructions are reasonably good, but the video helps especially to confirm that the remote receiver box is just left floating over the wires (which doesn't seem to be a problem, but was unexpected). Installation was somewhat tedious because it is expecting a concrete or solid wood ceiling. It includes wood screws and expansion bolts for either, but the mounting bracket does not come with a way to attach to a standard USA junction box (metal box behind a ceiling light). So, you may need a trip to the hardware store for a few more parts. The fan was easily balanced by just leveling it within the ball socket. Remote options are nice: 6 fan speeds, direction, and light color and brightness. The audio feedback is not very nice, but also not necessary. So you'll probably want to turn that off as soon as you confirm the remote is connected. Note that the fan offset rod may place the blades lower than you might expect. So, if you are over 6', the fan might feel quite low if mounted on an 8' ceiling. The running fan is extremely quiet but moves a lot of air. I'd say much better than typical. The light is somewhat soft and gentle. So it won't likely do much for a very large room on its own. If this fan holds up for a few years, I'd say this is quite a good value at $150 USD. ... show more

This is a nice fan, it runs smoothly and works well. Seems to be well-made, though there is a lot involved with putting it together. The directions aren’t really great, but there is a video that’s offered which I went back to look at on the listing. The most important thing is trying to put the transmitter Inside of the ceiling box. I didn’t have a problem with that, but it took a lot of trial and error before I figured it out. The remote is kind of confusing as well. But on a plus side it does offer six different speeds and six different lighting colors, the blades are reversible with black and walnut and it offers a timer. Nice fan ......well built. Has nice lighting functions. The fan was a tough install. Regular fan boxes (from Home Depot) didn't fit the fan bracket. I had to put a 2 by 4 wood brace between 2 ceiling studs and attach the fan bracket to the wood with lag screws. Fan is up and working. Looks really nice in our dining room/family room. Works great! Four stars worthy because it doesn't fit a standard fan mounting box. ... show more

Overall, several days after installation, my family and I really like the fan! It's in our living room. What I like: - looks great; good blend of classy and modern - impressively quiet! - moves a lot of air - good lighting color and brightness options - many options on remote - seems well balanced out of the box - convenient, easy wiring What I don't like as much: - not great instructions; there are a few things that I did in a different order, to make it easier - frustrating light kit installation; it was challenging to get it to turn and snap in place - there was a very slight rubbing sound right after installation, like of part of a blade was hitting something on the housing; this stopped after running it for a few hours - the remote works but is just confusing due to the number and layout of options - ceiling bracket holes didn't fully line up with standard ceiling fan box holes - it would be nice if it the main pole were slightly shorter, for a lower profile I've installed many ceiling fans before, and this one has a few unexpected quirks. But the end result is a very nice, effective unit that I hope will last for years! ... show more

Before I started to assemble this ceiling fan, I attempted to mount the hanger bracket to my existing ceiling fan box. The spacing in the smallest position is about an 1/8" too wide and it could not be used. (The provided bracket can not work with a standard US ceiling fan box.) I adapted an alternate bracket so that it could safely hold the fan. In the process of assembling the fan, I discovered the main pin that holds the motor up and passes through the hanger bracket is too short. It is not long enough to pass through and can't be locked in place. Although it might be possible to find a longer pin, I no longer have confidence that this fan will operate correctly and safely. I will not install it in my home. I strongly recommend you do not buy this fan. ... show more
