WGen5300DFcv Ideal size for powering critical items during a power outage. Does not require a large amount of possibly scarce fuel to operate, unlike higher wattage capacity units. Can run on either gasoline or propane. Propane, as a backup fuel option, is a real advantage as it can be stored long-term without deterioration and is generally available for purchase during times when gas stations don’t have power and their pumps are inoperable. Has a very desirable 120/240v L14-30R 30 Amp Receptacle for providing power directly to energize the house main electrical panel through an inexpensive electrical interlock kit (if you have one or think you might want to install in the future). Some other generators do not have this receptacle. This gives the flexibility to run most house circuits normally (possible exceptions of high watt electric hot water heater and Central AC unit, etc.) up to the rated generator capacity. Also has a TT-30R 30 amp 120v RV type receptacle and two 20 amp 120v extension cord receptacles. Has a data meter to indicate output voltage, frequency, run/maintenance timer hours. Propane tank connection hose/regulator, engine oil and funnel, and a basic tool kit are included. A wheel kit is included (uninstalled). Automatic low oil and CO shut down. Limited three-year warranty. Good detailed user/maintenance manual. Note: does not have electric battery start… pull start worked well. Amazon delivered in two days with no damage. Started right up and produced power on propane… Have yet to run on gasoline. My generator was made in Vietnam. Purchased to provide temporary power for refrigerator, small portable AC, and a few portable electronics for occasional outages. Because I'm not a heavy user, I was mainly looking for good value - I did not need to pay for something that was going to run 100 hours a week for years on end. It just needs to work when I need it. While Westinghouse is a old name in electrical (most of the western world's big nuclear reactors are built by Westinghouse and George Westinghouse invented alternating current) the brand name has been sold a few times for different applications and for this one is now retained by a company owned by an investment group, so I tend to be skeptical of applicability of "130 years of experience". Claim is this generator is designed in the US and manufactured overseas (mine was made in Vietnam). So far, happy with the purchase. Amazon delivered it right up to my garage which was nice. Took 10 minutes to install the wheels and fill it with oil. The unit is certainly well built, very solid frame and motor. Fired right up on a propane tank. I'll tend to run it on propane for shorter durations so I do not have to worry about emptying gasoline out of the tank for longer term storage. That being said, stated gasoline usage rates (about 10 gallons a day at 50% load) are manageable for a multi day event and one of the reasons I purchased this size of generator (I need to be able to store a few days worth of gasoline for this to be useful). There is not an hour meter on the unit to track usage. Would suggest buying one (they are very inexpensive) to stick on the unit to track usage so you do your maintenance on time. Quite easy to push around on the wheels, relatively small footprint for garage storage (about the size of a cooler). Was pleased with the noise level - no open frame generator is quiet but running this 20 feet away from my house it's barely noticeable inside and not at a level where it will rattle my neighbors home.
