  • It's light, it's quiet, it's perfect.
Style: 2800 Watts - Gas Only
After doing rounds and rounds of research on this brand and model, I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. Prepping the unit for it's first use was a very simple and easy process. It started on the first crank and it has not failed to impress me since. I've used it thus far at field events where there is no electricity nearby, and this generator has performed reliably. My favourite feature is the LED control panel which shows you all the vital stats of the unit, especially the fuel level and remaining run time. All in all, this unit is money well spent and Westinghouse has been well rated officially in my book. ... show more

  • Great Generator
Style: 2800 Watts - Gas Only
I recently purchased the Westinghouse iGen2800c, and I couldn't be happier with my decision! This portable inverter generator has exceeded my expectations in so many ways. First off, it's incredibly quiet. I was pleasantly surprised at how little noise it produces. We recently had Helene pass through, and I legitimately could not hear this generator running outside my back door over the sound of the neighbor's generators 100 feet away. Very, very quiet. The power output is more than sufficient for my needs, it was able to easily power a fridge, chest freezer, and router, as well as charge several devices without ever leaving eco mode. Portability is another strong suit. It’s lightweight and comes with a comfortable handle, making it easy to transport. I appreciate the compact design, which fits neatly in my garage without taking up too much space. Setup was a breeze—no complicated assembly or extensive instructions. Just add oil, fill it with gas, and it's good to go. Fired right up first try, ran with no issues for 24 hours straight, only being shut off to refill the fuel. Maintenance is easy and straightforward, access to the oil drain/fill port is easy, though I'd recommend using the included funnel to drain the oil, otherwise it spills down inside the machine. The spark plug and air filter are likewise easy to access, though the fuel filter looks like it'll be difficult to change. Maintenance requirements are pretty minimal, and all parts are readily available from the Westinghouse website. Fuel efficiency is absolutely incredible. This generator holds about 1 gallon of gas, and with a fridge, freezer, router, and fan connected, it'll run for 10+ hours on that single gallon of gas. Very, very efficient generator. The description says it'll run for 12 hours at 25% load, but I never had it go quite that long for me. Real world, I'd say expect 8-10 hours of actual run time, which is still very good for a single gallon of gas. Overall, the Westinghouse iGen2800c is an excellent investment for anyone in need of a reliable, efficient, and portable generator. If you're looking for something that'll keep your frozen foods frozen and charge your phone, it's an absolutely great investment. Very fuel efficient, plenty of power for basic appliances, easy to transport, and relatively inexpensive. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Does What I Need it to Do.
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - RV Ready
Live in the Houston area, which seems to lose power for days with every hurricane or major storm. Texas is hot and humid, you do not want to be without some AC for very long. Assembly and operating direction were simple. Started with a few pulls using propane. Plugged in a 6000 BTU window AC unit, the refrigerator (normal settings), and charged my phone for a 2-hour test run. Ran great and carried the load. Good size and weight. Noise level is fine. Because it will be sitting in storage most of the time, plan only to use propane. The dual fuel option was a big selling point for me. ... show more

  • Great inverter/generator, but can be awkward with LP gas gear and funnel needs improving
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - RV Ready
All told, an excellent inverter/generator. The sale price ($499) was fantastic! I didn't even need a generator, but I bought it anyways. Quiet, Westinghouse quality, powerful enough in an emergency... Again, at that price, you can't go wrong. I only have two complaints, and the first is pretty much universal for all dual-fuel generators -- they can be awkward with the LP hose and regulator. That's the nature of the beast... But my second issue is more serious. The supplied funnel is corrugated, and that means it's difficult to control the exact amount of oil and or additive flowing into the machine. Westinghouse... Please supply smooth, angled funnels! ***UPDATE*** Break-in is now complete... My comments above are still relevant, but here are more thoughts... During the break-in, the iGen2550DFc stalled out after about 45 minutes twice. I contacted Westinghouse Technical Support and they (not sure if human or AI) walked me through some basic t-shooting steps... One step involved possible propane regulator freeze-ups which was clearly not the case, and the other step was to check the gap on the spark plug, which again was clearly not the case because the generator ran for 45 minutes before stopping twice. My hunch all along was that the carbon monoxide detector was too sensitive, and over time would accumulate enough CO to stop the machine. Finally, Westinghouse Tech Support agreed with me and sent out a new CO sensor but refused to offer instructions on how to install it. Instead, they told me that it was "easy" and that the sensor was behind the choke... I was on my own... No problem... I'm mechanical and the problem is fixed... But I fear for the newbie and doesn't have my background to deal with these sorts of things... Lastly, during the final break-in run, the fuel selector knob vibrated free and fell off... At face value, it's no big deal... I applied Loctite and screwed the selector back on, and I'm all set... But that makes me wonder... What other parts are not secured with a thread-locker and should be??? Because of poor Tech Support follow through and shoddy assembly practices, I wish I could downgrade my rating from four stars to three... Too bad... I really think this is a good generator if *management* just stepped up to meet the machine's potential. (Also Westinghouse, pls offer this machine WITHOUT a CO sensor!) ... show more
