    This air fryer has worked great and is a lot easier to clean than others we've owned. Setting each side for a different temperature and/or different cook time is so convenient and the finish together feature really comes in handy so both are done at the same time. We've used it for fish, chicken, nuggets & fries, and veggies. The preset buttons for fish, chicken, etc. have not been that accurate for our needs but online suggestions come in handy for getting great results. The drawers and interior grill plates clean easily with soap and water. And unlike some other reviewers, we washed it once when new and since then have never noticed any odd smells, tastes or excessive smoke. The only caviat we would put on this would be to watch closely on the first attempt of each type of food and make notes for future uses. It cooks quickly and can overcook just as quickly if you're not watching an item you haven't tried before. Once we figured the times & temps for our favorite foods it was set it and forget it. Would definitely recommend this unit, especially at that price. ... show more

    I have consistently used this air fryer almost daily for at least a month now. The baskets even though they are 4.5L each are more rectangle in shape than square, so it takes getting used to. I am finding that cooking for 2 with different tastes, I actually need 2 of these, because I am running this unit twice for dinner. It absolutely does what it says, Dual Cook, and Sync Cook work perfectly and Cooks Consistently. Would I buy it again? Maybe. Do your homework. ... show more

      • I Really Wanted To Love It

    Having spend many hours, days, months researching air fryers I finally decided on this West Bend model. While researching I needed to make a decision as to how important/versatile this appliance would be in my daily cooking routines so at some point I came to the conclusion that an air fryer would be handy to have for simple, quick and easy applications such as quick snacks, reheating etc. Baking bread, which should be a straightforward action, is actually the most important task I have in mind for this machine. I have a bread maker which I love, but I want to simplify my cooking life by replacing some of my small appliances with a "multi-tasker" which is one of the appeals of an air fryer. So.... I didn't look at expensive, large capacity, multi function, "miracle" machines. Keep it simple was my motto and after much more research decided on this West Bend model for several reasons. Price was one but not my main criteria. Reviews on AZ were the driving force in the decision-making process as well as name brand recognition and trust in the brand. Aesthetics, versatility and to some degree features also played an important role. Finally, I ordered this machine. What follows are my initial observations and experiences with this West Bend air fryer which I really, really want to love and had high hopes for. However, I must admit that at this moment I am on the fence about keeping or returning it. Pros: Item was well packaged and arrived earlier than estimated. Beautifully simple and aesthetically pleasing design with a fairly small "kitchen counter footprint". Well-made. Drawer slides in and out easily and the tray has solid silicone feet. The Diamond Star West Bend proprietory inner coating seems solid. Display is intuitive and clearly visible. Stands securely on counter. Clean up is a cinch. AND......it is very, very quiet!! What a pleasure that is😊. Before I continue with the "Cons" I would like to state that I will cook more items than I have up until now to make a fair assessment and account for my own shortcomings/inexperience while using the air fryer. So.....here are the "Cons". Cons: Machine off-gasses which is not mentioned in the West Bend/AZ description. It is mentioned briefly in the users manual. Before 1st use I washed basket and tray and wiped insides of machine as instructed in manual. Ran the machine outside for a 30 minute "dry" session at 400° but had to repeat this routine twice more for a total of 90 minutes with 30 minute "rest period" between each session. Washed/wiped everything again but could still smell "burnt" electrical odor. Removed basket from fryer and let it "air out" on kitchen counter for 3 days. I could still smell a slight odor but decided to take the plunge and cooked some french fries using fully pre-cooked potatoes on the FF preset. After the halfway beep I checked for doneness and added more time bc fries had not browned at all. Checked for doneness several more times and added more time several more times. Eventually fries did brown. However, it took almost 2x as long as the preset. Next cooking adventure was a rolled up tortilla with cheese. After15 minutes it had still not browned but cheese had leaked out. Disappointing! In a few days I plan to bake a loaf of bread at which time I will update this review. As I said, I really, really want to like (and keep) this air fryer but will return it if it doesn't perform as it should. PS: Before I purchased this air fryer I "Asked A Question" on AZ which was: "Does this airfryer have an automatic shut-off after cooking cycle finishes?" I received 1 answer which was "YES". I also came across a general answer on line which was "most air fryers have an automatic shut-off". Why does West Bend fail to mention this pretty vital information in the description? Observation: Fryer shut off automatically after the 3 burn-off sessions. Fryer did not shut off at end of FF session. Could that be bc I added time to the cooking cycle? The time ticked off to "0" but fryer kept going. UPDATE I have used this air fryer for several more dishes and I feel much more confident about using it but............. my trepidation regarding this item has not changed. I cooked "easy" things (see my earlier review) and have since made a grilled cheese sandwich with less than stellar results. It took 20 minutes, 10 on each side, and the sandwich had browned but was not crispy which was very disappointing! Not any time saver either. I baked a small loaf of bread, the top burnt inspite of using foil for protection. Even reheating some rice was more time and labor intensive than it should have been. As I said before, I really, really wanted to love this but I still don't and therefore I will return it. ... show more
