Description

Remember when you had clean and quiet portable power? The WEN 4500-Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator produces clean energy free of voltage spikes and drops without all of the noise of a regular generator. Generate up to 4500 surge watts and 3500 rated watts of power on gasoline, or connect a propane tank for up to 4500 surge watts and 3150 running watts of power on LPG. Our 212cc 4-stroke air-cooled OHV engine operates at an extremely quiet 58 decibels at quarter load, about as quiet as a window air conditioner or the average conversation. This limits its invasiveness while hunting, camping, tailgating and restoring back-up power. The WEN Watchdog CO Shutdown Sensor helps protect both you and your family by automatically turning off the generator if dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. Our unique Auto Fuel Selection Technology automatically switches between propane and gasoline for longer run times with limited hassle. The keyless electric start provides quick ignition, while the included remote turns your generator on and off from up to 160 feet away, with a recoil starter as backup. The WEN 4500W Inverter Generator is also equipped with fuel shutoff. This feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing the generator to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside of the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan. Designed to mirror a pure sine wave, this generator limits total harmonic distortion to under 0.3 percent at no load and under 1.2 percent at full load, making it safe for laptops, cellphones, monitors, tablets and other vulnerable electronics. The lightweight design along with the built-in wheels and folding handle make for easy portability while the ultra-efficient 2.2-gallon tank provides up to 8.5 hours of half-load run time (or 9 hours half-load run time on a 20-pound LPG tank). Our fully-packed panel comes equipped with two 3-prong 120V standard household receptacles, one RV-ready AC 120V 30A NEMA TT-30R receptacle, one 12V DC receptacle, two 5V USB ports and an easy-to-read digital fuel and load display. Maximize fuel economy by engaging the Eco-Mode switch. This feature allows the generator's engine to automatically adjust its fuel consumption as items are plugged into and unplugged from the panel, preventing the usage of unnecessary gasoline. The oil access cover makes for easy oil changes. Need more energy? Easily link up two WEN inverter generators using a WEN Parallel Connection Kit (sold separately) in order to share wattage between multiple units. Low-oil and low-fuel automatic shutdown, indication lights, and overload protection safeguard both your generator and your electronics from damage. The included spark arrestor allows for legal use in national parks and campgrounds. And because this is a WEN Product, your inverter generator comes backed by a 3-year limited warranty, a nationwide network of skilled service technicians and a friendly customer helpline. Remember when your generator powered your electronics safely and quietly? Remember WEN.

πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

This generator is praised for its exceptional quietness and ability to switch automatically between propane and gas. Users are particularly fond of its electric and remote starters and its sufficient power to service a large camp trailer. However, improvements could be made in relation to weather covers for the outlets and the tires.

Pros

  • πŸ‘ Great power output
  • πŸ”Œ Dual fuel (Propane or Gas) with auto switch feature
  • πŸ”‡ Very quiet
  • πŸ”œ Electric and remote start
  • πŸ’΅ Good value for the price
  • πŸŽ›οΈ Runs efficiently with about 50% load with everything running

Cons

  • ❌ Lack of weather covers on outlets
  • πŸ”˜ Wheels could be improved, specifically by adding rubber tires
  • πŸ’§ Doesn't come with oil, users suggest synthetic

Should I Buy It?

Given its powerful performance, quiet operation, and useful features such as dual fuel and auto switch, this generator appears to be a worthwhile investment. The minor issues regarding lack of weather covers and wheels improvements do not seem to be significant drawbacks, making it worthy of consideration for anyone in need of a reliable, efficient generator.

  • It's great!
The unit is as quiet as my Honda EU2000. It runs my trailers air conditioning perfectly even on ECO mode. On Eco mode running my AC it ran over 11 hours on 5 gallons of propane and my frig was on and cook a few meals on the stove and made a batch of cookies in the oven. The remote start is it must have. Yes it a bit heavy compared to a suit case style but powerful and extremely quiet. Run on great on propane and is surprisingly efficient on its propane consumption. Would definitely buy again. ... show more

  • Efficient on propane
I love that I can go 3-1/2 days on a 30# cylinder. The electric start system is so automatic I wonder what could be next. It is true that I run the system only when needed, about 7 hours in 24. The generator can do both the hot water heater and microwave at the same time. It is surprising how much power an electric water heater draws. I found the A/C took about 50% of the capacity. Having a feedback meter helps one decide what is important and how to manage power use. Propane cost is about $7/ day to cover needs running 7 hours in a 24 hour period. The noise is very minimal, often times the generator idles down making it even more quiet and efficient during low load periods. This opens up the choice of camping locations. There is no need to be where high amenities are available. ... show more

  • WEN MODEL DF452iX Dual Fuel Inverter Generator
Let me start with the fact that I am a 60-year-old woman that lives alone with no one with mechanical or electrical knowledge to come help me. I live in the midwest where we have power outages due to storms frequently. The last power outage, I was lucky. Everyone around me lost power and a lot of food (and a lot of money due to that food). I did not. My power never went out, but based on what was happening all around me, I decided to take a chance and buy an inverter generator strictly to power my deep freeze and my refrigerator. I bought the "WEN DF452IX 4500W Dual Fuel Inverter Generator. " I intentionally bought the one with all the bells and whistles since I know nothing about these, or how to use one SAFELY. I wanted to make sure that it had every safety mechanism available, which it does, as well as a remote start in the form of a key fob. I was extremely nervous about getting this thing up and running since I don't know a whole lot about engines, oil, batteries, but I did it. The only faux pas I had, was after I had put oil in it and did everything else the manual said, it would not start. I knew it was not getting power from the battery because no lights were coming on. I called the company and I told the woman I was sure it was the battery to which she thought so too based on what I was telling her. She told me exactly how to remedy the situation. The battery is shipped inside of the unit with two safety mechanisms on them so they don't accidentally connect, sparks fly....you get my drift. I did not realize this because even at looking at the two separate wires, they appeared to be connected to me. Don't be fooled, even by looking at it if you have an untrained eye like mine, you may think the battery is hooked up, it is not. After taking off the battery safety connectors and then hooking the two ends together, my generator fired right up. I have to admit, I was kind of proud of myself. I am about 6 hours into my 8-hour break in. I have not plugged anything into it yet, but I am getting ready to. I will say this, this unit is extremely heavy at 100 lbs. The handle tucks under the front of and it helps when relocating it. So far, the only issue I have is that it could have been built with bigger wheels on the back making it much easier to move around, and some wheels on the front where there are none. Don't let it intimidate you. I'm sure most men won't, but if you're an older single woman like myself with no one to really help you, WEN'S customer service has been absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough good things about them. They gave me a lot of useful tips and information. I could have bought a different unit that had more power and less bells and whistles, but for someone like me who needs those bells and whistles to know what is going on with the unit, I have no regrets. And by the way, it's very quiet. My neighbor has an open cage generator that is extremely loud. My unit is nowhere near as loud as his. Now I also realize that when the power's out and nobody has anything running, you're going to hear any noises. But I can tell you that I can BARELY hear this in the front of my house, and when it's on eco-mode, you really can't hear it in the front of the house at all. So far I have absolutely no regrets. After the 8-hour period I have to drain the oil and put new oil in it. Again, as an older woman who's never had to do this stuff for herself, I'm doing it alone. Don't let this intimidate you ladies, if I can do it, you can do it. And by the way... again, customer service has been exceptional and has helped me greatly when I needed it walking me through things. I hope everybody is able to have the great experience with their products and customer service that I've had. ... show more

  • Nice generator
I needed to get a larger generator than the 2000 ish watt type I've been rocking for years. I was eyeballing the champion dual fuel with remote start but this was a good bit cheaper so I opted to give it a shot. I do like it. It's relatively quiet. It's not going to put your little Honda to shame but it's easy enough to have a conversation right next to. It seems quieter than my old Westinghouse 2200 watt. The dual fuel is awesome. No more clogged carburetors in the name of ridiculous ethanol regulations. It switches from propane to gas (if you have any in the tank) automatically so you've got some extra run time built in - which is nice. You can get auto propane fail over valves on the cheap as well. So you could run this for a while without ever having to tend to fuel. The remote control works but it seems to be buggy (could just be me at this point), but I've had issues getting it to work consistently. Electric start is really nice especially if you've never had it before, but it started VERY easily via pull cord as well. It's a bit heavy. I have a muscle condition making me weaker than most guys my age. I can JUST barely get it into the back of my truck by myself. Certainly a pain to wheel around on anything other than concrete but that's a given. The frame fasteners that it ships with were aggravating to get removed since you have to be under the genny (again, tough for me to lift up and tough to get myself on/off the ground - so just an aggravating step). The battery compartment is basically the exact same size as the battery making it difficult to remove battery, hook up terminals, and shove it all back in there. another couple cubic inches would make it soooo much easier. Overall definitely happy with it. I was originally planning on using this at my camp but it's too heavy for me to easily transport there and back. I didn't need all the wattage out there. I just figured the ability to remote start/stop would be nice. Which it would be but it's not necessary. WIll get a smaller one that lacks electric start (probably) but dual fuel is a MUST at this point. So nice to not have to worry about gas going bad or gumming things up (or trying to find an ethanol free gas station). ... show more
