The blanket is very calming and relatively breathable. If you are using it alone, it does breathe well. I found sharing it made it hot and I needed to take breaks with it but I was using it in summer in a hot environment and my husband runs much warmer than I do. I really wanted to see if a weighted blanket would help me sleep. I love being tucked in and weighed down. I fell in love with it day one! I felt really secure and loved the weight. It definitely helped with staying asleep as well. Sometimes have a little anxiety and I love this for it. I was scared it was going to fall on my dachshund next to me, but it really stays in place. I purchased the weight based on reviews, 15 lbs. it’s too heavy but it does afford me a good nights sleep as I have restless legs. I would purchase the 10 lbs next time, or less. I also bought the cover since this isn’t easily washed, the blanket slips and slides under the cover and the beads don’t evenly distribute while sleeping.
