I got a new electric adjustable bed/mattress thing which made my mattress a bit too tall, like by 2" or so. I felt like I was going to knock myself out or fall when I got or out of the bed. This is kind of like a sturdy cane would be. The hand hold is perfect size for my smaller hand and has goog gripping padding on it. It's not so big it becomes an obstacle to get around. It's very sturdy and secure. I feel a whole lot safer with it and I also got one of those adjustable step aerobic steps that I use to also get in/out of bed safely. We bought one for an elderly family member to use at home after a 3 week stay in the hospital had decreased range of motion and muscle strength. With use of this item, individual is now able to safely get in/out of bed independently. This ability has improved individual's self-esteem, while also providing peace of mind for spouse and family members. We bought a second to use at family vacation home for when individual visits. THE FIRST ONE WAS FLAWED AND WOULD NOT ASSEMBLE RETURNED IT AND GOT IT THE NEXT DAY OUR HOME HELPER PUT IT TOGETHER AND IT IS PERFECT. I HAVE BAD KNEE SO I NEED HELP AND FELL OUT OF BED A WEEK AGO AND MY HUSBAND IS BLIND AND HAS DEMENTIA I HAD TO SCOOT TO OUR BATHROOM WHICH IS CLOSE AND USED BARS WE HAVE IN THERE TO LET ME STAND UP.
