Description

The Performer Deluxe grill features an exclusive Touch-N-Go gas ignition system that ignites charcoal briquettes with the push of a button. Especially handy is an LCD countdown cook timer with a large readout . The timer attaches to the grill or can be easily removed if you'd prefer to take it inside or keep it with you. The grill is outfitted with innovative heavy-duty Gourmet BBQ System cooking grates, a 2-part grate system that may be used in tandem with Weber's Gourmet BBQ System cookware collection. The grill's classic porcelain-enameled bowl and lid with a One-Touch Cleaning system and high capacity ash catcher make clean up hassle free. Storage options are plentiful with the CharBin storage container which protects your charcoal from the elements and a sturdy painted metal table is right at hand while grilling. Also features a wire bottom shelf, no-rust aluminum vent and a glass- reinforced nylon handle. Uses disposable 14.1 or 16.4 oz. LP cylinders (sold separately).

I've always been a fan of charcoal grilling (as opposed to gas), but lighting the coals has always been a pain. Growing up, my father had a very fancy bbq/grill built-in to the deck when they remodeled, and it included a gas pipe to get the coals going. With my last grill, I'd been using a chimney starter and aiming a plumbing torch into one of the air holes. This worked, but it wasn't as easy. I specifically asked for this model for Father's day this year because of the gas lighting system. Putting the grill together was fairly easy, if you're handy. I particularly like the system of inserts that you can swap out for the middle. I've already used the sear grate and the poultry cooker and the results both times were excellent. The gas lighting system works perfectly even with the charcoal basket things they include (those make it easy to make a roasting fire setup with a drip pan under the poultry cooker and the two baskets of charcoal on either side). The generous table area is a definite plus - much more space than I had with our old grill. I could go on and on with each of the features they outline in the brochure - just about all of them are helpful. If I had any criticism it would be that the knobs intended for hanging utensils don't actually fit any of the things we had to hang, and the coal bucket isn't large enough for the larger size bags of charcoal. For anyone with a gas grill unsure about switching to charcoal, this is the way to go! We have always had a gas grill and were looking to buy a new one, after doing a ton of research we didn't feel great about sticking with gas - the taste is so much less flavorful than with charcoal or wood chips. I also have two children under three and don't have time to wait for my charcoal grill to heat up. I did my homework on hybrid grills, smokers, and charcoal grills. I really like to smokers that use wood chips, but they do put you in a box in regards to what your food will taste like in the end. My research kept pointing me back to this performer delux Weber Grill. It has a propane start up that you can leave on as long as you want to get your coals hot. We usually leave the gas on for about 5 to 10 minutes to get the coals started, then turn it off and let the coals keep warming up for another 10 minutes after that. The bin underneath is great to store the coals, the timer and temp gage are helpful, and metal cart top is a perfect size for food prep. And my food tastes absolutely amazing! I've only used coals so far, but if I want to give my food a more smoky taste I can and put wood chips on top of the coals. I am so thrilled with this grill, I can't wait to use it and try to find something to grill each night! After a 16-year hiatus of using a gas grill, I decided I wanted to get back to charcoal grilling. I think I read every review and every answered question before I ordered. I was particularly interested in alternate hookups for the gas ignition. As it turned out, I had a good supply of the Coleman 1lb propane bottles as I use them for my outdoor propane light. However, upon completed assembly and first use, I determined that the grill control valve for the gas was not 100% secure in shutting off. So after one night, a brand new bottle of propane was found to be empty. After second and third uses of the grill, it seems to be shutting off better as I still have some gas left in the bottle. My old grill was a Weber gas grill and a long time ago, I had run a propane splinter line from my big 100 gallon tank up to my deck and using the proper hose and fittings, I bypassed any need for the big portable 20lb tanks. So naturally, my thoughts focused on getting the same hookup for my new Weber Performance grill. It didn't take long to find the proper fitting to mate with the brass female fitting on the grill -- it is a Coleman 2000015166 Bulk Adaptor. https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000015166-Bulk-Adaptor/dp/B0009PUQAA/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Coleman+bulk+adapter&qid=1602802506&sr=8-3. The beauty of this setup is that in addition to the shutoff valve on the grill, I also have a main gas shutoff on the gas line on my deck. I give high marks for the quality of construction of this grill. Assembly went smooth although I ended up being shorted a couple of flat washers. After using the grill 3 times, I am getting better at loading the charcoal baskets with the proper quantity of briquettes, and how to space baskets for best results. ... show more

Edit: After three weeks and four calls to Weber customer service our replacement parts finally arrived and are incorrect. Order was to be for proper replacement legs and received plastic clips. Awaiting CS management return call. AND, still no return call from CS Superviser. Five hundred dollar grill purchased for a gift. Upon assembly, we noticed cart parts does not match grill and grilling table. Called Weber customer service only to receive the worst service rep imaginable. He would not listen to anything we explained. Did not care about the situation. Was uni formative about replacement parts being sent and timelines for said parts. Customer service rating is 0 Weber rating is 2 because of previous grill is great. ... show more

I gave it 4 stars for a missing piece. I bought this as it is really great on reviews. I got to assembling and I got all the way to the end to stick the grates and baskets in when I noticed, I have no bottom charcoal grate. Which socks. I had everything except for that. Other than that it was easy to assemble and love its look. Just now have to figure out my missing grate issue ... show more
