  • Western Digital 22TB Elements Desktop External Hard Drive Review
Memory Storage Capacity: 18 TB
If you’re in search of reliable and expansive external storage solutions, look no further than the Western Digital 18TB Elements Desktop External Hard Drive. With its impressive capacity and dependable performance, this external hard drive is a game-changer for content creators, graphic designers, and video editors alike. I recently purchased the 18TB variant of this external hard drive, and I must say, I’m thoroughly impressed. Prior to making this investment, I had experienced the unfortunate demise of a competitor’s 12TB drive. Thankfully, I was able to retrieve all my data, but it was a stark reminder of the importance of choosing a reliable brand. Western Digital has proven itself to be just that – reliable. Unlike my previous experience with another brand that exhibited concerning cracking sounds, this Western Digital drive operates quietly and smoothly, a testament to its solid engineering and durability. What’s particularly appealing about Western Digital’s lineup is the wide range of capacities available, ranging from 4TB all the way up to a whopping 22TB. As a content creator with demanding storage needs, having access to such expansive capacities is essential for backing up my work and ensuring I never run out of space. Speaking of which, as a content creator, graphic designer, and video editor, storage space vanishes in the blink of an eye. That’s why having a high-capacity external hard drive like the Western Digital 18TB Elements Desktop External Hard Drive is an absolute necessity. It not only provides ample space for storing large media files and project backups but also offers peace of mind knowing that my valuable work is securely backed up. In fact, I’m so impressed with this external hard drive that I’m already considering upgrading to the 22TB model in the near future. After all, when it comes to safeguarding my creative assets, there’s no such thing as too much storage. In conclusion, if you’re a content creator, graphic designer, or video editor in need of reliable and spacious external storage, I highly recommend Western Digital’s Elements Desktop External Hard Drives. Trust me, it’ll make your life a whole lot easier and your workflow much more efficient. ... show more

  • Attached to Tablo for greater recording space
Memory Storage Capacity: 6 TB
Great add disk derive if you want to save a lot of recordings. Device has worked flawlessly since purchased. Hookup was simple and now able to save all the programs that I want. Drive noise level is very low. I’m using in a bedroom and can’t hear the drive from the bed.

  • The Best Portable Large Capacity Drive For Your Money.
Memory Storage Capacity: 10 TB
I purchased this drive in January of 2020. I bought mine with a 10 terabyte capacity. In terms of portability, it does require A.C power so keep that in mind when you are traveling. However, if you are somebody that needs to have access to a large amount of data or have space for large amounts of data at any given time, then you really can't do much better than this drive. For the price, you are getting a great value with these drives. From disassembly videos, it seems that most of this elements contain Western Digital Red drives. To buy just that hard drive (at an equal storage size as an Elements) it is actually cheaper to buy the Elements than it is to just buy the Red hard drive with no enclosure. When doing data transfers, the drive is fast. I've gotten nearly a true 5gps transfer speed when copying large files. If I had to guess, I would say the drive inside runs at about 5400 or 5600 rpm. While it's not as fast as 7200 or an SSD drive, i'm guessing that it will have a longer longevity than faster hard disk drives. The only time the slower rotation speed becomes a bother is when you haven't accessed the drive for about a half hour. It seems to have an idle mode where it is on standby. When you go back to the drive to access information, it takes about 20 seconds for it to wake back up and get back up to speed. It's not really a problem if you are constantly reading and writing information, but it can be a small nuisance when accessing it intermittently. Long Story short, if you are looking for a drive that has a very large storage capacity, is relatively portable, and is cheap, then look no further. Are there better and faster drives out there? Yes. They also cost more. I have used this drive for video editing and have actively edited movies off of this drive with footage up to 2k resolution with no problem. The main option you are probably comparing this to is the My Book which is also made by Western Digital. The only difference with that drive is that it comes with encryption software, and allows the drive to be accessed by a network. If you need network access then the choice is clear, but if you want the My Book for the encryption software, be aware there are hundreds of other encryption programs available (some of them are free and actually work very well), and purchasing the My Book for that option is sort of a waste of money. If you just need a drive for the storage capacity and nothing else, then this drive is for you. ... show more

  • Works well.
Memory Storage Capacity: 8 TB
I had options and saw other externals but WD has only failed bad on me once. The Drive arrived and was given time to "adjust" since it was wet out. Plugged into my desktop and ran a few checks and it looks very good. No issues with it... Many seem to have issues about spin up times.. I get that everybody wants instant but this is NOT an SSD. I have 3 4TB internal drives. One black Two blue. The Blue spin down and need a bit to spin up when called on.. This is not that bad. That's how drives work. I do wish it had a full shut off and not just a blinking light hibernation light after unmounting it in the OS. The power light only stops blinking when you disconnect the Data or power cable. Aside from that it's going well ... show more

Memory Storage Capacity: 22 TB
I use it for a backup of my 22tb external drive for my photos. So far it works fine without a hitch. I inadvertently dropped it from about four feet onto a tile floor and it didn't skip a beat.
