  • Underwhelmed
Too much money and trouble - Great expectations. Very disappointed c

  • It works
I have two mics by Warm. This one I found to be very husky and dark for my voice and really anything else I put thru it. My suggestion and solve, replace the tube that came with it with a vintage tube like a telefunken. That changed the game and after spending a little time and research on other tubes, I landed a vintage telefunken and it became a favorite mic. I would have purchased just the wa251 mic had it been available a few years ago but i'm glad I have both. For my guitars and for live bass and vocals I swap between the two or use the two mics in tandem often. I have received lots of complementary remarks from tracks recorded with the 47. Do your research and good luck. ... show more

  • Unimpressive
I had high expectations given the rave reviews. It looks great and has a nice heft to it, but… It is so noisy. Subjective signal to noise ratio is unsatisfactory whether I connected it directly to my apogee symphony or via WA-73 pre. The sound was warm but didn’t have a natural roundness to it. I don’t think this mic is anywhere close to the vintage ones other than it’s appearance. ... show more

  • Good mic
Agressive sound. Isn’t so easy to work it. Isn’t affordable to some people (like me)..

  • Great Microphone but a bit concerned about quality control
Ordered this last week - worked for one day then the output went almost to zero on second day. Returned it it and got another - this one came with a European type power cord.... I have a USA cord and it all seems to work so I am not returning, it is just annoying. Absolutely love the MIC though, in the limited use so far. Tried it on vocal and acoustic guitar so far, and it sounds wonderful. ... show more

  • This U47 will make you feel all WARM and fuzzy
+ The best microphone I ever had; this mic has brought my recordings to the next level. I highly recommend it. - The power plug could plug into the power supply a bit more securely; but once you see how to put it in it stays.

  • Beautiful sound for a very reasonable price.
Bought two WA-47s from a pro-audio supplier, and they are amazing! We did a blind shootout between these and two stereo-matched Peluso 2247 SEs (which cost 3 times as much) on a grand piano, and they were almost indistinguishable at all registers, dynamics, and chords that we tried. (Incidentally, the P 2247s compare very well against the original U-47s in other blind shootouts that we've done, and are among the best clones ever made.) These mics are well-built, a bit chunky (like U-47s), and look quite impressive. Like their inspiration (U-47s) they are warm and clear, with a generous bass. They would be great on just about any instrument or vocals. The only minor gripe that I have is that the power supply is a touch flimsy and the cable is a bit short. Another small detail is that the serial number is not engraved on the mic itself, but it's on the wooden box (we requested consecutive serial numbers on our two mics). This is inconvenient because one has to make sure the correct mic goes in the correct box, but we solved this by sticking Dymo tags on the mics with their respective serial numbers. A mic that sounds this great for this price is definitely worth it. ... show more
