The light on my clock stopped working a few months ago, even after changing out the batteries. I reached out to the seller and they suggested some troubleshooting methods. After moving the switch to Low from High, the light started working again! I thought it might possible that the Low is mismarked and should read Off? But I don't think so because I tested both settings and both worked in the past. I saw this at a friend's house & just had tp have one. I meant for this to be in my kitchen, but once it arrived I decided it had to be in my family room where I'd see it all the time. Nail is super easy to read. The brightness comes on in the waning light of evening & fades off when the sun comes up. Two brightness levels. I chose the dimmer light first, but shifted over to the brighter side. That was merely for a matter of personal preference. Either way is fine. I'll see how long the batteries last at this level. I like it all. Very solid, NOT cheap, fragile junk. It is totally quiet. Second hand is continuously moving. The light is perfect, only seen when it gets dark. Very unobtrusive. Keeps perfect time, but is not an "automic" clock, so doesn't automatically rcognize time change periods. I.LOVE.MY.CLOCK!!!!! I got the blue (teal) one. My eyes aren't so great after cataract surgery a few years ago. So the large numbers & hands are perfect!! And there are 2 settings for the light - am stating out with it brighter, but after accustomed to it, expect to be able to put on low yo extend battery life. I don't recall if the description tells you clearly, but it takes 4 2A batteries; 1 for the clock works and for light. But the light sensor works beautifully. Does well, but the batteries will run out quickly if the light stays on for 12 hours a day because of shade or night. The 3 AA's (for the LED) I used are just about gone, it's been about a month. The movement will probably run for a couple years or more on the 1 AA (for the movement).

Very, very pleased with this clock. Bought for my 97 year old father so he could see the time late at night and then go back to sleep. The light is dim on purpose but bright enough to read. It also is a decent size so he can read it with no problem and it's silent so there is no loud clicking noise to keep him awake.
