The original set of radios I got delivered were defective and wouldn’t connect. I contacted for a replacement. Got the replacement literally the next day which was crazy lol. We bought these for a cruise to stay in touch with our son but we couldn’t use it on the ship. We tested them out at home and they worked fine. On the ship as long as we were close by one another they worked but other than that they didn’t so we didn’t use them. My husband said they were easy to set up. They use 4 AAA batteries. Update: I increased the rating from 2 stars to 3 stars. Although I still cannot use the item due to the volume issue, I do appreciate the company responding and standing behind their product. Customer service goes a long ways and it's nice that when a product doesn't work the way you expect, that they company will step in to make things right. While I wouldn't personally buy this product again, I would feel comfortable buying a different product from this company again. I realize this is a really strange thing to complain about, so this review may not be valuable to everyone, but these things are just very loud. Even when I have the volume all the way as low as it will go, every time I use these and they make the beep sound that they're activating, the sound is so loud it's really just painful to my ears. I don't even use these because it's just too painful. And I'm talking about how you press the button to talk and it beeps, or you press the menu and it beeps; that beep. I can't find a way to make it quieter. The small volume bars at the bottom are all the way down to 1 bar. ... show more
