We had a something like this in gym class in the 70's, but it was longer, heavier, and didn't involve water balloons. Even though it's less substantial, this is long enough to be fun, and sliding the "ball" back and forth across the ropes is enjoyable enough, though it needs the added weight of the water balloon to move properly. The water balloon aspect is the fun begins. Like a water balloon toss, somebody's going to get wet, and it's only a matter of time until you find out who it's going to be. The only real issue that we have with this is that the "ball", which screws together (2 halves) with a 1/8th or so turn, is too flexible and comes open too easily. Sometimes, the water balloon breaks while inside the ball, splattering water at a player. Other times, the ball falls open and dumps the water balloon on the ground. It would be nice if the ball held together, either with a stiffer ball or a more secure locking mechanism. We eventually came up with new rules for a loose balloon. Sometimes, we agree to put it back together and start over. Sometimes, we agree that we can pick it up and throw it at each other. Another option is change to a game of water balloon toss if the balloon comes loose. The important thing is to turn it into something fun instead of a disappointment. ... show more

We love this thing! Adds a healthy amount of fear to family yard games. Just kidding, it’s totally safe. Just doesn’t feel that way when it’s flying towards you. Used to work in physical therapy and we used these for shoulder exercises. Very versatile.

It’s a great toy for building kids upper body muscles. Only complaints are that the string gets tangled very easily during storage and if the kids are too young it’s very difficult for them to play.

Kind of difficult for kids to use along with adults until you figure out good techniques. Even then, we busted a string rather quick and had to fix it twice. Fun when the balloon popped tho.

Used it for my daughters bday pool party. Worked great but didnt use it as much as they wanted to because they kept taking all the water balloons and beaming it at each other. So the water balloons ran out by the time the next squad was ready to play.

This was purchased for a birthday gift for a 6 year old. The older kids and adults enjoyed it, the 6 year old was not able to spread his arms far enough to get the ball moving. It was used one time because storage is a royal pain. If you manage to get it untangled to use a second time, there will always be a third untangling it yet again! Concept is awesome, storage is not. So I had to stay in Rehab for breaking my back for a week. One of the things I enjoyed doing as a part of my PT was playing Zoom ball with my therapist. I’m home now but my kids are all to busy and when there’s not enough room in my house to play with it. As soon as I’m able to get outside in a nice day and one of my kids has free I’m looking forward to being able to play Zoom ball again.
