  • This item WILL replace the chest strap for cyclists!
I am an avid cyclist who has used chest straps with electrode paste for years. This product pairs instantly with Garmin and Peloton and iPhone apps. Accurate, stays in place, comfortable. Rechargeable, long battery life. What's not to like? I won't be going back to the chest strap.

  • TICKER FIT > Scosche > Mio
This is my 3rd optical hr monitor- used primarily for running (daily) and sometimes cycle (weekly). the Mio Link and Scosche Rhythm+ were my other two, each lasting 2 years. The Mio had the most durable strap- that stayed on when swimming- but would pick up cadence and had only an 8 hr battery. The Scosche was a bit more reliable, sometimes but seldom picking up cadence, and bands would last about 6 mos, and easily replaced. Battery life 7hrs. I've had this Wahoo for a few months now and it's the smallest, most comfortable, the band- unlike prior comments, seems to be holding up well, it has yet to pick up my cadence and seems to be spot-on with my HR. And- the best part- is the (spec) 30hr of battery life. So far- my best optical HR monitor yet. Now my HR monitor will last for any Ultra race, an IM, or a 2 week vacation without bringing the charger. Nice! ... show more

  • Unreliable. Loses Connection. Gets Stuck. Garbage.
My original review for the TICKR was 5 stars. And at first, it deserved that. But slowly over time, the TICKR FIT became less and less reliable. I finally had enough, and contacted Wahoo support. They sent me a replacement, and it suffers from the same reliability issues. This is honestly a trend I've seen with Wahoo products. They seem to create good products but those products just dont last! I own a number of things from them and this is a really consistent, serious issue with Wahoo hardware. So what's wrong with the TICKR? Well, it refuses to stay connected to my BOLT. It will drop out for 10-15 seconds at a time, multiple times per ride. Some rides are 100% perfect, without any issues... Other rides, I'll have 6, 8, even 10 dropouts over the course of 20-25 miles. I ride with the exact same gear every single day, with the TICKR strapped onto my arm in the exact same place every single ride - and yet, it performs very, very inconsistently. Other times, even when the connection doesn't "drop", it'll just stop updating. So I'll be at 150bpm, and come to stop and take a break and 2 minutes later my heart rate is still 150bpm. Which, it's clearly not, trust me. Other times, it's the opposite. I'll be coasting along at 120bpm and then I'll hit a big climb -- I get to the top and, what do you know, I'm still at 120bpm. Clearly not, again, trust me. Wahoo seems to be blaming interference, but it doesn't matter if I ride with or without my Apple Watch, I have these issues. My speed/cadence sensor (from Bontrager) do not suffer from any dropouts whatsoever. And my old TICKR (not FIT) chest strap heartrate monitor NEVER drops, either. So, I don't believe it's my BOLT, nor do I believe it is an interference problem. I just think the TICKR FIT is a piece of JUNK. I am not a fan of chest straps, otherwise I'd just go back to my old TICKR. That thing is reliable and works well (but, like most Wahoo products it does have its own issues: I've gone through 2 straps in the course of year, they've both broken at the snaps. More poor quality control from Wahoo. Buyer beware). So, I'm in the market for a new arm band heartrate monitor. Reading DC Rainmaker, I am pretty sure I know what I'll be buying. It's also highly likely I've purchased my last ever Wahoo product. I love the company, but they just don't seem to be able to build products that last. Between my partner and I we've had very poor luck with Wahoo products standing the test of time. C'est la vie. ... show more

  • Very satisfied, we use them every day
I did a lot of research before buying 2 of the Wahoo Ticker Fits for myself and my wife. Turns out nearly all of the negative reviews we read about had an easy fix. A little trial and error in where to place the sensor on your body goes a long ways in eliminating dropouts and false readings. Experiment with Bluetooth connectivity with your phone, especially when bike riding, keep the distance short. I wear mine just below my shoulder when cycling and on the same side as my phone carrier. Also, do NOT use any sunscreen or lotion! With a little common sense these are exceptional HRM's that work very well. The batteries last a really long time and are easily charged with the magnetic USB clip, remaining charge is shown on the app. The factory App is basic, which I like, yet shows all of the important stuff. It has a wide variety of named workout routines, including cycling and skiing, and the ability to modify or easily create your own named routine. After imputing personal stats it auto-computes your personal heart rate ranges and calories burned, along with easy to read graphs that track each other. On our bike rides we get a detailed map of our route with elevation, speed, and heart rate graphs. Additional pages of collected data can be added at will. The stationary workout routines of course do not show mileage or elevation and are tailored to the workout you choose, all of which are saved in history and easily retrieved or deleted. Linking is easy to a plethora of fitness apps. I personally just use the factory app, but my wife links to Google Fit. Cleaning is easy with mild soap and water as the sensor is waterproof with no battery doors. I had heard how flimsy the band was, really? Its a soft Velcro band that is very comfortable and after a month of daily use and a few cleanings I see no signs of visible wear. That said, it is not stainless steel or hard plastic which would no doubt last longer at the price of comfort. I think the band is a non issue, when and if I wear it out I'll just replace it, to me comfort is more important than extreme longevity. Bottom line is we are extremely satisfied and glad we did not listen to some of the bad reviews or get a wrist watch or the chest strap type. Is it perfect? No, and you will need to experiment a little to get your personal 'sweet spot' for where to place it on your body. After that it will perform very well. We use them daily! ... show more
