  • We LOVE this cooler
This cooler has changed our camping and road tripping game! We love doing both but after the first day our cooler was gross with all of the melting ice (even if it was in a dry bag), it either didn't keep our stuff cool enough or it melted all over. This cooler lets us cool as we drive and when we get to a hotel, cabin or campsite it will stay cool enough through the night and has an adapter to plug into an available outlet. Highly recommend!! ... show more

  • IT'S ALREADY DEAD!!! DON'T BUY THIS COOLER!
First and foremost, the unit died yesterday, exactly 3 months to the day after I received it. When it worked, it cooled to about 38°, and I keep the cab of my truck pretty cool. Like low 70's cool. It's also pretty loud due to a noisey fan and the lack of contact the gasket makes when the lid is closed, causing the fan noise to resonate. I have called Wagan's support line, but you don't get to talk to a live person and unless you already know someone's extension number, you're only going to be allowed to leave a message in their general mailbox. Not exactly what I call "Customer Support". UPDATE: Amazon Customer Support processed an exchange of the cooler because I was unable to get ANY response from the vendor to my inquiries for parts to repair. The new cooler arrived and was placed in my garage for about 6 weeks, unused. During that time, I used a smaller model Wagan cooler that is still performing well. A few days ago I got this bigger cooler out and began using it. Although the unit was not continuously running the entirety of the time, it has to run for about 2 days, then I am back home for a day and it is turn off. This new exchanged unit sent to me by Amazon lasted for two trips out and back, about 5 days total use and has died. I cannot stress strongly enough that you do not buy this cooler. The fan will die, or the circuitry will overheat, long before you get your money's worth of use from it. I also cannot stress enough that you do not do business with this vendor. They are only on here to sell their wares and do not care in the slightest about providing something called "Customer Service". I have entered a complaint with Amazon with regard to the product, and the vendor. They should be kicked off of Amazon. ... show more

  • Save your money for a real compressor frig/frzr...
I made a mistake and bought this a few months ago. I am sure glad I didn't pay the current price, which is almost double what I paid. At $80 it was still way overpriced. Seeing the current price, I am glad I am didn't throw away $150. It is plain junk. I needed a something to supplement my RV frig as we always seem to run out of room. I used it a couple of times in my RV while camping and now it doesn't cool anymore. When it did, it didn't get below 45 degrees. I couldn't keep true perishables in it, only some drinks and things I didn't have to worry about spoiling. The temp wouldn't even get to 45 if the ambient temp was over 80 degrees. I also had to keep it outside or in the bathroom shower to keep from hearing the jet engine fan. Additionally, it uses way too much power. Don't try running this off 12 volt without the engine running for long (it will drain your batteries fast), or if you don't have a AC hookup. Any by the way, you will need a DC converter which isn't included if you want to run off AC. Bottom line is you can now get a true compressor driven frig/frzr for about $100 more. These can get down to 0 degrees even in 100 degree weather and they use a lot less power. This 'thermoelectric' cooler was a waste of time and money! ... show more

  • Great Cooler
Great for road trips. It's not insanely loud if you're playing music or a movie. The strip reaches to the back. The fan keeps it nice and cool. I would still add ice or ice packs though as the car needs to be running for it to stay cool.

  • Love it!
We bought this product to travel back and forth from Northern Washington to Southern California without having to refill our Ice-chest with ice at every stop. This Car Fridge has worked like a gem. Even though We have only used it for a month we have been completely satisfied. No overheating of the fan was ever noticed. It sits in the back of our suburban and plugs in to the outlet. We take care of unplugging it overnight while the weather was cool and no need for refrigeration since we were not opening it throughout the night. Everything stayed cold. Traveling back and forth it was in constant use for a week at a time. No problems! The only thing I was a bit disapointed about was that we had to purchase the car adaptor to enable us to plug it in the outlet separatly from the car fridge. All in all a good purchase and we would reccomend it to any other travelers. We beleive if you take good care of it, use it smartly ...it will last a long time. ... show more

  • Wish I had known about the loud fan
I don't usually do reviews and wanted to write about the things that I wish I had known before purchasing. My sister has a large Igloo brand thermoelectric cooler and after using it once, I was sold. Unfortunately the size I wanted was unavailable so I looked, read reviews and decided upon the Wagan as it was the size I wanted and had wheels too. When first plugged it, I was surprised at the volume of the fan. In my optimism, I thought it might be because it was cooling it down from room temp and when cooled would gear down. I thought wrong. The fan runs constantly and is loud enough that we can't have it behind the front seats, where we like to keep a cooler for easy access to drinks and sandwiches while on long trips. It has now been relegated to the back of the vehicle and will require stops to get what we need. It also seems to take quite a while to cool down. Due to this, we ordered the conversion plug so we can plug it into a wall plug in the house the night before leaving to get it cooled down. Conversely, it doesn't seem to keep items cooled very long once it is unplugged and still in the car. Items on the bottom and middle stay cold, but near the top and sides are getting close to room temp within 2 hours. The Igloo I had used surpassed in this and I was able to leave it in the car, unplugged, overnight. The good news is that you won't need to get ice, or worry about items swimming in water as the ice melts during the day. ... show more
