  • Super nice product, but I should have done a little more research
Size: Medium Style: Regular
Before anything, this was a 5 star item easily. I loved it, and would have kept it if not for one thing. I assumed this had a screen on it, which is why i got it. I wanted a drawing tablet, not a drawing PAD. I simply didn't research what i was getting, so I ended up returning this, but I did test it out and this is what I thought of it. It is SUPER reactive, which I loved. It was super easy to set up (I have an HP (windows) laptop by the way) the Bluetooth thing didn't make sense because when I unplugged it, it stopped working, but it wasn't a big deal. I got the medium size, & the pad is the size of paper, but the buttons on the side make it a couple inches larger. I didn't apply a lot of pressure to the screen, but it can handle a decent amount of pressure without scratching at all. The stylus is very nice, like a thick plastic pen. I don't have anything to say about the pen stand though, it was very simple. I think for starters, this could be okay, but you need great hand-eye coordination. I lack this, so I struggled looking at the screen while drawing on the pad. I bet I just needed some practice, but I don't have it now so oh well. Overall, this is a VERY nice drawing tablet, highly recommend, and hope you find what you need :) (just in case I didn't make it clear, its not like an Ipad or similar products. It is like a giant version of the pad thing that's on the front of laptop keyboards that you can touch) ... show more

  • Out of box woes, reliable customer support
Size: Large Style: Regular
The tablet itself is wonderful—sleek, robust milled-aluminum gives the impression of quality. So the structure and durability is to par for regular use. Not sure about travel endurance, this has pretty much sat on the computer desk, but I assume it would hold up quite well. I’ve seen many reviews complaining about the surface of the tablet, however, noting the rough texture eating away at nibs rather quickly. In my experience it took several hours of drawing for a flat surface to become noticeable, but the nib worked enough for me to entirely overlook its presence. If you draw for a living I could see needing to replace these somewhat often, but the nibs are honestly quite cheap. I spend more on average quality drawing paper per month—using one nib per week is two and a half months for ~$10. TL;DR even if the nibs wear away quickly they should be easily replaced at little cost, but on principle this might be a negative for some. Just do some research and know your preferences before you buy. The surface itself is replaceable, which I love to be honest, for when you create smooth friction spots. You can easily peel of the original surface (its attached via adhesive) and replace it—these are somewhat pricy for the large sized tablet. These last much longer than the nibs. No noticeable wear after a month of use in my case. The pen gives the impression of fragility, as it is extremely light due to its battery-free operation. I can’t attest to how durable it actually is though, no accidents (knock on wood). Works well, and confirms to the ergonomic standards Wacom has established. My major complaint with the product is that it doesn’t seem well optimized for windows users. Out of the box, having installed the latest drivers, the $400 (got mine on sale) tablet ceased to function within ~45 minutes of use on a Friday evening. I had to wait an agonizing weekend to receive a response from their customer support. The issue was resolved promptly, and although the call center was clearly outsourced, the representative was knowledgeable, polite, and efficient. After essentially fixing some run files the tablet works like a charm. Keep in mind, having worked in a domestic call center that was supposedly customer support, our main focus was sales metrics. Hideously pressured to the point most reps outright lied to push numbers—not once was I pressured for a purchase. Although I would have enjoyed a native English speaker, US customer service isn’t the best. Mostly due to corporate policies rampant in the industry—at best they offer quick fix solutions like encouraging a return of the product, which is more often than not a waste of time. This product should really work out of the box for its price, but my issue was resolved promptly. So I can’t ding Wacom for having the appropriate resources in place. All in all, I would buy this again and highly recommend it to any artist/educator. Personally I prefer ”regular” tablets to cintiqs which hardly give you an increase in quality for the gratuitous expense. You can expect this tablet to perform if you make a living off such devices. ... show more

  • Great tablet, works as well as my iPad Pro!
Size: Medium Style: Regular
I want to preface this review by stating that I have never used anything like an actual Cintiq or similar. The closest comparison is my iPad Pro, which I had been using to creating fantasy art digital paintings for a good two years as of this review. My switch to a Wacom Intuous Pro was spurred by the fact that I'm now doing more complex illustrations and I really need the power of desktop Photoshop. Not iPad Photoshop, but he real deal app! I love Procreate, but Photoshop has the true power that I need when working on my drawings. Yes, you can draw and compose and paint all day long on the iPad Pro with Procreate, but I needed more processing power and, quite frankly, more layers! I previously had a Wacom Intuous 3, like probably 12 years ago or so. I used it back then, but never got into digital painting like I have in the last two years. I have no problems going from using the Apple Pencil which draws directly on the screen vs. using the Wacom Pen 2, down on my desk with myself staring at the screen. In fact, I think there is a slight advantage for me personally because now I no longer have a tendency to hunch over the iPad. It just seems to work for me just fine. I like to use my Wacom Intuous Pro M in tandem with the Apple Magic TrackPad 2. There are times when I connect via Bluetooth and my Wacom has a lag. I find that if I turn off the trackpad, then turn it back on, the Wacom pen and trackpad work without disrupting the either. I do find that I need to turn off my Magic Mouse entirely however. Yes, I like to work with both the Apple trackpad and mouse, I think it keeps my wrists from going bad and it just keeps my brain guessing, I suppose. You know, using multiple inputs for moving the cursor around and all. All in all, I would recommend this to anyone, the Wacom Intuos Pro M. I had one of the smaller Intuos, and it was fine, but the Pro has much more sensitivity, thanks to the Wacom Pen 2. The nib does wear down faster than I remember, but it doesn't really bother me. I think the pressure can be adjusted, but I really haven't messed with it. Should beginners use this? I think for the level of control, levels of pressure, it might take away the frustration with using a cheaper tablet. It's like when I was learning to paint traditionally: when I went from student grade paints and brushes to pro grade materials, there really was a difference in how I could manipulate the paints and use a brush that actually held its point. I imagine working on a Cintiq with Photoshop would be just as awesome or maybe even more. But, I will say that the level of control I feel I have using the Intuos Pro M in Photoshop to draw, sketch, paint is so spot-on, that using the Intuos Pro M will save me hundreds of dollars when compared to a Cintiq. ... show more
