We still keep this type of phone because it is cheaper to use to call international with our provider. Our previous phone just stopped working properly so I bought this for the replacement. My old Vtech that I have had for four years and also got on Amazon was still working, but they recommend changing the battery pack every one to two years if you use a lot. Well, I do use my phone a lot as I am at home most of the time. It didn't cost much more to get a new phone over the battery pack. So was still going after four years and I have paid 20 and change for my old one, this one, with tax (high tax in my state), was 23 and change. It took about 12 hours to fully charge before first use, which is expected. Maybe a little less or more, but it does take awhile. Love the sleek look! Has all the features I need and was surprised it even had aaa batteries in case power went out! We get a lot of thunderstorms here in the Midwest and power going out not uncommon. It even has a button on the side of the base to locate handset. Bottomline: Would get again and when I want or need another phone, it will again be Vtech. ... show more

This is not only a review, but also my PSA for those who have never experienced a major disaster and tried to make a call to family! For cheap landline phones these aren't bad. I purchased them for emergencies, cell towers can only hold so many calls and tend to become over burdened and give users a "busy" signal when there is a major emergency city/state wide with everyone trying to call loved ones and emergency personnel. I know, because I remember when Seattle had a major earthquake a few years back..and I wasn't able to call to check on my family in state and upon doing my research found that landlines work better in those situations! These phones have several ring options, a contact saving feature and caller id. The ring tones are adjustable for over all volume as well. They are substantial and feel like the right amount of weight in your hand. The buttons are large enough and back lit. They back lit screen can be difficult to see with glare. So, I purchased this knowing that landlines remain accessible during those emergencies and so that I could contact our out of state contact - everyone should have an out of state contact for major emergencies, because sometimes only out of state lines continue to work in disasters - this way everyone can check in letting family/friends know their status. This phone works for this function as it is a landline phone, just be aware that the battery isn't that great, I put each on their base and upon removing them within 8 - 10 hours of non-use they require being placed back on their chargers. For what I purchased them for they will do. I have been told by one person that the call quality wasn't great, but that could have been on their side just as easily as mine since they were on a cell and on Mt. Rainier. So, for a phone that I just need for emerencies or on the rare occasion I forgot to charge my cell..I went with these phones and they work as intended. ... show more
