The first one I ordered runs for a few seconds but immediately seized while running clean water. The impeller wouldn't budge when I tried moving it with my finger. I received a replacement through Amazon. It works as expected and is very quiet and powerful. It seems to pump better than my previous pump of similar rating. I like that it can be mounted flat so that more of the motor can be submerged, which I think can prevent overheating in a low water situation. This pumps in my waterfall that has a 6-7' head, and the flow is great. I did place it is a seive bag for guarding against debris. I had four solid years of this pump running 24/7/365.24 with many times running dry for a few days at a time. I think this last one finally made this pump bite the dust. For $100 for a very strong pump that lasted this long - well there's not a better deal than this. I bet if I cleaned the insides more often (or even once) it would have lasted longer. This ran year round in New Jersey - pumping water up a 3'-4' waterfall and into a frozen pond in the winter. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The previous 4500-gph pump put in by the previous owner was really not able to produce a nice waterfall on the two falls that our pond has. The 2" pipe to the upper waterfall is about 60 feet with a four foot rise. This 500w 8000+ gph pump does a great job! I'm very pleased. The lower fall is about 3 feet high and also looks good. its powerful, BUT, it will last maybe 2 years. and if you call or write then to buy a pretty simple relacement part, they dont sell replacement parts. and its description does not accurately tell how high is the actual fitting to connect it to your pind, so it probably wont fit by about 1/2 inch too high. its imprint is so big, that you may not have space to connect it. uses plastic impeller( instead of metal, and will not sell/replace it… ... show more
